Only went here when a friend suggested this place to have our breakfast last Friday. Didn't expect that this place is actually quite a hotspot among locals. (Also, it has been covered by the media, making it more viral than ever😅) . It is quite a drive to this place. We passed through some kampong areas, which I thought was quite scenic as it was surrounded by a lot of greeneries. As we get nearer, the roads are getting narrower. At a time, it can only allow 1 car to pass at a time. . What surprised me the most is that, this small, humble stall is literally located at the hilly side of the area. I guess the hazardous element about this place would be, cars have to squeeze in to find parking, scattered around the edges of the hill. So caution is advised when parking your cars here ⚠️ . Afterwards, customers have to line up near the entrance to scan the MySejahtera QR code and place their orders. Dine in and take-aways are available. Most popular breakfast dishes would be their Nasi Lemak and Roti Jiwa Kacau. Prices are also ridiculously cheap 😆 Payments are on the spot after ordering the menu. Payment can be made by cash or Maybank QRPAY. . My friend said that the during lunch hour, they have different menus which differs from every other day during weekdays. . I ordered their Nasi Lemak telur bungkus and a cup of teh tarik. I'd say it's pretty mediocre, but the sambal is not bad, however, for someone who had a pretty low tolerance to heat and spice, could find it slightly unpleasant 😅 Teh tarik is tad bit too sweet but I ordered another glass of plain water to dilute it. Their roti canai is also nice and accompanied with the same sambal from the nasi lemak. . I guess the main attraction to this place would be the price and also the food. Perhaps the location is also a factor. Some people find it amusing to discover hidden gems among the creeks and crevices. If someone wants to experience what a 'Malay kampong' life is, this could probably be the place. . If it is based on the food that I had, I would rate it in the middle score. But since I have not tasted all of their food, it would not do them justice. So, each to their own preferences 😉 . Is this place nice? Yeap, just the parking lot is a bit hazardous.
Is the food nice? Yeah, but sambal is a bit too spicy.
Will I come again?...
Read moreIt is practically in the middle of nowhere!!😱 And the quaint little foodstall sat precariously on a sloping land, supported by some makeshift structures which didnt offer much confidence of its structural integrity to onlookers...or perhaps, there were some supernatural powers at work here, hence the intriguing name??🤔🤔🤭
You wouldnt pass by it by chance, you must have the clear intention to come here, after hearing about it from words of mouth only...
And, our mouth was our dear friend Nasir, who was led here by his wife once, and could not get enough of it!! He claimed that this is the only place where his daughter could finish the whole plate of nasi lemak, together with the spicy sambal!!
So, today after our teh tarik at IKN, he brought our #teamikn here, after warning us that the nasi lemak normally sold out by 10:00 am..., and true enough, we arrived only 10 minutes after...Luckily, some servings of the nasi lemak were still available, but without any of the talked about sambal sotong, ikan bilis and kerang, which are the main attractions for me personally!!☹☹
The unique thing about the nasi lemak is that they wrap it in a thin layer of fried egg...and the aroma of the rice came through quite nicely. But without any of the additional sambals, we couldnt quite get the true taste, so Nasir had promised to come early next tuesday, eventhough he would have to queue for an hour, and tapau for us the full works, and bring to IKN!!! Thanks, Sir...👌😊
He did warn me that the sambals are quite spicy, knowing that I cant take spicy food. So, for me the jury is still out for the sambals, but I guess we will find out next...
