Zhai Min Vegetarian Restaurant — Restaurant in Subang Jaya

What👏🏻An👏🏻Amazing👏🏻Lunch👏🏻 Guys, you HAVE to try this place 😁 I used to come to Zhai Min when I was a kid, and they've been around for DECADES. Previously, they were in Taipan, but unfortunately closed down during lockdown. We thought they were permanently closed and we'd never get to try their cuisine again, but I saw them here the other day and when I called up, they confirmed it's the same place!

So here's the facts: the place is super clean (being fairly newly opened), very decently priced, quality of the food is great, portion was good, and the owner (C.Y.) was very friendly and approachable. It's also located in a quieter area, so there's always a seat available (even like today on a Saturday), and there's no parking drama!

I always appreciate it when someone puts up pics of the menu, so I've attached it in my pics. I recommend the Chinese Fry Rice, and pair it with a Yam Basket and/or Hong Kong Char Siew. They also make a VERY good kankong belacan (excellent smoky flavour). We also had a Sizzling Tofu (but they didn't have the sizzling dish this time) and it was super soft tofu!

Funny Fact: we had lunch at 1:30pm, and now it's almost 10pm, and we're stillllllll talking about lunch and when we wanna go again. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I tell you, for any vegetarian worth his veggies, and even for non-veggos to try something new, you HAVE to try this place.

Few things to comment about this place. The Food is as promising as other reviewers said it is, the food here are generally scrumptious, and are pretty good as compared to other Vegetarian Restaurant out there. Pricing wise, it is reasonable too, with the quality of food and the portion, it is definitely value for money. HOWEVER, let me explain the reason for the 3 star rating. The customer service is unbearable and unacceptable.

First, basic politeness are not found in any of the staff in this restaurant (if someone said thank you to you, at least give a nod or some sort of feedback).

Second, as the last customer in the restaurant, it was stated that your "Operating Hours" is till 9:30p.m, but it was extremely impolite and embarrassing that you show your attitude to your customers by giving impolite eye contacts and also turning off ALL the fan and air conditioning while the customer is still in the shop.

Third, it is unpleasant to hear your "politics" while I am dining, if staffs want to talk in the restaurant, it is fine, but at an appropriate volume. Please don't shout out your conversation and be considerate to your customers.

Overall, I would recommend and definitely come back for the food once again. However, please improve on your unsatisfactory customer service. Thank you.

The vegetarian range in this restaurant were just average and normal by far. While I do like the fried mushrooms, fried vegetarian meat with mayonnaise sauce, claypot vegetarian pork with bean curd, stir fried assorted vegetables with mushrooms, and curry vegetarian mutton with potatoes, others including assam vegetarian fish and stir fried spinach were far from satisfaction.
