Located in the St. Regis Maldives resort, the Whale Bar is an over-water restaurant which is appropriately shaped like a whale shark. The restaurant has an extended dock where the sunset ceremony is held at 5:55pm sharp. This is where the staff march down the dock to dramatic music, use a sabre to open a champagne bottle and then hand out complimentary drinks. It is recommended to go earlier to get a good seat on the dock for the ceremony and then the sunset.

We waited until the last night to go to the Whale Bar thinking that we had seen all the resort had to offer, but we were completely wrong. The sunset from the Whale Bar is gorgeous. The ambiance is this amazing sense of serenity - quiet breeze, waves lapping at the dock, with the sky seemingly on fire - all while lying on an outdoor day bed. I cannot emphasize how beautiful it was here, and I would recommend giving yourself the opportunity to go multiple times in your stay.

Additionally, the selection of tapas food was really quite good. After the sun had set, we moved into the main area of the restaurant for a seafood dinner which was top notch. As always, the service...

By far the best restaurant of this island.

Think about a perfect view 🤩 you must go there an hour before sunset and stay for the night dinner.

My wife and I visited this restaurant during our last night at the island, thinking we had beef already impressed by pretty much everything

We were wrong, this place is beyond beautiful, the quietness, landscape, mood & architecture is simply remarkable, we've enjoyed a couple of cocktails before sunset and then we had the very fresh sea food, they had a show going on and also I believe they invite well known cocktails makers

The architecture goes with its name, the whale, emulating a whale with an open mouth "eating" through the restaurant.

The servers were very nice and friendly, we had an amazing time so we had at every single restaurant of this...

The Whale Bar is the coolest bar I've ever been too. It's the perfect location for watching the sunset in the Maldives. Drinks are great. The tapas are excellent (especially the croquettes and crab cakes). It is the go to spot to start your evening at the St. Regis.

We loved the daily champagne sabering. It's such a perfect way to end the day and begin the evening.

Definitely come to the Whale Bar each...
