Wifey and I visited this fish restaurant based on the great reviews we'd seen, and overall we weren't disappointed.
Even though reviewers recommended booking we weren't able to call up due to our UK SIM cards not playing nicely with the Malta system but we thought we'd chance it and weren't let down. Initially we were invited to sit inside but as a table became available we were moved outside.
Our waiter was clearly new and there was some slippage but the other staff resolved the issues with ease. (Might I suggest, based on 3 decades of staff training and development, that for the first two or three shifts the trainee waiting staff are allowed to write the orders down rather than use the electronic device. That way they can concentrate on getting the order right, can easily read it back to the customer to ensure accuracy and in turn read it over to the kitchen team. This will help implant the menu items in their memory. If the order needs to go on the system then an experienced member of staff can submit it to limit the error factor. After these initial shifts, they can the add the electronic device to their learning and move away from paper and pen.)
The food was as hoped and again the team went out of their way to ensure we were happy.
All in all an excellent meal that was en par with the excellent reviews we had...
Read moreOne of the best dining experience we have ever had! We discovered Forty Fishes early during our stay in Malta - and ended up coming back every single evening. This little restaurant is all about fresh, perfectly cooked local seafood, and every dish we tried was beyond delicious. You can really taste the love in the food. But what made this place truly unforgettable was the amazing staff. Everyone was friendly, always smiling, and genuinely attentive - it felt like visiting friends rather than just going out for dinner. :) A special shout-out to Angel and Fernanda, who made our experience even more special. Fernanda was incredibly kind - one evening I came straight from the beach in just my swimsuit, and she kindly offered me her own t-shirt so I wouldn't have to return to the hotel. That small act of kindness said everything about the kind of people they are. Both she and Angel were like sunshine - so kind, genuine, and full of good energy.Every evening we were treated to complimentary touches like limoncello or coffee, which made us feel extra welcome and appreciated. If you are in Malta and love seafood, Forty Fishes is a must. It's cozy, local and full of flavour - both on the plate and in the atmosphere. Thank you guys and we will be back...
Read moreEvery dish was dissapointing, not one bite stood out as a good meal. Overcooked, portions are not good, ratios are disproportionate. I recommend nothing of this place. While everything was made fresh and came to the table hot and with good presentation but just wasn't good or tasty.
I am beyond surprised of the high reviews and question the legitimacy to be honest. The server was very sweet, but in this restaurant it is not relevant what the customer thinks about the food - chef-owners are the only ones who stand correct and get the final word. There is no customer satisfaction whatsoever! While they were kind, they didn't offer to make it right. It was their opinion-taste beyond ours as paying customers. I'd never go back or recommend this place.
Reply and become defensive all you want, but this was my experience at this restaurant. People will come to know on their own and over time there will be more reviews that validate my claim. It is too new of...
