My favourite dining experience in Malta. An amazing restaurant with extremely high-level customer service, Gozitan exceeded all expectations!
The interior has a cozy, with a rustic atmosphere about it. The waiting staff and the maître d' is a very charming guy with a good sense of humour.
The food is absolutely incredible. I had the fishcakes to start which served as a deliciously light stretching of the stomach before moving onto the local rabbit stew which was nothing short of spectacular - one of the best dishes I've had in memory.
We had cocktails to start, as well as a bottle of a very pleasant, local semi-dry white wine to go with the meal.
To top it all off, we received dessert on the the house. Still not entirely sure what we did to deserve it, but needless to say I was completely and utterly stuffed at the end of the meal.
All-in-all, we paid around 80 euro if memory serves me correctly. Considering we were not limiting ourselves (it was my birthday afterall), I was shocked it our bill didn't come in over 100 given the quality of everything with received.
11/10: would recommend to anyone who isn't a vegetarian, vegan, or has a problem with...
Read moreChose to come to this place based on all the positive reviews. Showed up and got told issues with the kitchen and to come back in an hour. Okay fine, went to a bar had some drinks and came back hungry. My wife ordered the horse stew and I order the suckling pig. Shortly after ordering we were given "complementary" bread with tomato paste and butter and a sausage soup. It was complimentary because of the ensuing long wait for our orders to arrive. My wifes dish was pretty good. Good portion and good flavor. Mine on the other hand was terrible. The pig had no flavor was not crispy and the only redeeming quality was the french fries. We were then given a complimentary dessert as well. The food here is alright. Not the best and just bland. Why I gave it 2 stars instead of 3 is that it seems VERY gimmicky. Basically our meal included bread, soup and dessert. I didnt really want any of those so knowing its built into the cost of my meal I would have preferred better quality of what i ordered. The dessert may have been local but also not exciting. Overall the food is okay nothing super special, service is slow, and u get "free" things like bread,...
Read moreOriginally we were headed to the restaurant across the street, but when my wife saw the very traditional side terrace, she insisted to eat there. Certainly didn't regret it. Besides the super-friendly staff (we got Rashib -I hope I spelled correctly - he is such a gentleman and kind person) the food was extraordinary. 1st time we tried the octopus stew and the fresh lamb, with baked potatoes (the chips/fries are frozen) The lamb was utterly delicious, super tender. The octopus as well, my wife loved it. 2nd time we tried the fish soup, my wife loved it that much, she didn't left one bite for me to taste it, and I asked for the rabbit stew. First time I ate rabbit, so I'm not an expert, but it was a very delicate, nicely seasoned, interesting experience.
Don't make the mistake I did, to not ask for the traditional, homemade desert they have... Heaven on Earth... individually some random stuff, but combined together in a single bite. the pastry-like cookie, ice cream and halva...Holy mother of Jesus! Orgasm to your taste buds. All in all, too bad we discovered Gozitan only in the second half of our holiday. We will surely...
