After seeing multiple good reviews, finally decided to give it a try, and it definitely exceeded my expectations! We were a table of six and although there were several other big tables, the service was efficient and the waiters attended to our requests with a smile. The food was cooked to perfection - we ordered calamari and octopus for starters, then for the main course we had their famous beef tagliata (1kg to share), and ended the night with a sweet taste of their freshly prepared imqaret and mini doughnuts. They also offered us complimentary tartlets and liquor on the house. Very satisfied, will definitely return!

Good Napoletan pizzas made by "Forno a legna" = wooden stone oven. We had a Margherita D.O.P and Bufola, both truly delicious, just as in Italy. Chose an Italian red wine from Sicily with perfect mix of Syrah and Nero d'Avola (25€) which was delightful. Tasty Olive oil (perhaps from lovely Puglia) and Balsamico at the table. Down sides: If you expect fresh ingredients, do not order pizzas with mushroom (canned) or simple ham, stick with Italian delicases such as Salami Milano and Parma Ham. The service is very slow, as at every other place in Malta.

Great Atmosphere, Amazing service from the staff, the Food was delicious, and on top of all that they gave us complimentary focaccia and a small dessert! We were a group of seven and I personally shared a Beef Tagliata with two other of my friends, which was very decently priced and good in taste. The portion is just right when split between three, about 330g each. The others had pizzas and also liked what they ate. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and am myself going to visit it again.

Went to dinner there in a group. The restaurant is situated on the site of a former football club hence the trophies on shelves in the restaurant, or so the waiter told us. A few caricature type drawings on the wall of famous people especially footballers. Otherwise quite a plain restaurant. Service was great and so was the food. Pizza to start with some fried balls of goats cheese all of which were very tasty. There was also a pasta - tomato based ragunwoth cream - I would have preferred it sans cream for the full tomato flavour but that's just my preference. Rigatoni was cooked al dente which I like, stuffed with tasty Maltese sausage. Main was sea bass fillet cooked perfectly, served with broccoli and masked potato. Dessert was typical Maltese dates wrapped in a pastry shell - tasty. The mini conoli was ok - not much flavour to them except for the pistachio crust. All in all...

Due to a mess-up with our hotel we were allowed to eat for free at the Il Pirata for dinner. At first we were apprehensive that the menu was going to be limited or the food quality bad, but we were gladly mistaken.

Il Pirata was an excellent restaurant, the manager/owner was there every night to talk with the customers and lend a hand when needed, the staff were friendly, the environment good and most importantly the food was excellent.

Every day the specials changed and we never felt limited or disappointed by the food and would strongly advise the fillet steak or salmon as being...
