ImPasta — Restaurant in Saint Julian's

After being a regular customer here for many years I was extremely disappointed when I ordered my pasta dish (which I order all the time) but this time the pasta came extremely firm and not aldente at all. When I explained this to the waiter he then argued with me that my pasta was aldente despite me explaining that I am a regular and have had this often and this is not aldente. He then went on to say that he would make another one but it would take too much time. I then had to sit there with two friends who were eating with no food no apology and no acknowledgment. The waiter was very aggressive and proceeded to give me uncomfortable stares following the situation. I then attempted to leave the restaurant after my friends had paid and the lady at the till began shouting abuse at me saying I had to pay for the pasta I didn’t eat!! She screamed “it’s our fault you didn’t like the food, we gave it to you so you have to pay” when we tried to explain that if we were offered a replacement then we’d be happy to pay she started shouting again and started to tell us to “get out” I have never experienced such terrible customer service and aggressiveness from staff. This was supposed to be the highlight of the Malta trip but instead has completely ruined our first day. I hope the staff get the training they need as this was wrong. Very bland pasta, everything looks beautiful, but has literally no taste. The wait staff is always socializing and never doing their job. I brought this to the attention of the owner through Instagram. He apologized and offered to have us back as "his guest" to make things right. We thanked him and returned a week later. I showed the message to the waitstaff and they said "sounds good" we asked them for their recommendations on wine and pasta. The food was still bland, the waitstaff was still gossiping in the bar all night, and we were charged full price for the bill. When I told the manager we had been invited as the "owners guest" she gave a bad attitude and said "that's why I'm offering you dessert for free" which she did not offer until I questioned the bill and was ready to leave. I then messaged the owner telling him what happened as "his guest", he replied "you misunderstood me and what it meant to be my guest". Truly a garbage establishment. Worst pasta/Italian food we had on the island by far! Highly recommend trying other establishments...

We chose this place as we wanted to eat pasta and we thought it would be a great idea to go to a pasta bar. But we weren’t that happy about our visit.

Firstly, the service was kind of off putting, as they were smoking inbetween serving people and they don’t stop when they see new people coming in. Then, the pasta itself was okay, they cooked it a bit firm. Not really al dente. The sauce. Well. That was really disappointing. After having read all the good reviews, we Decided to go despite the bad reviews. But honestly, I definitely agree that the sauces weren’t made with love. It’s just average pasta which left me feeling like something was missing in the sauce, as was the same with my partners dish.
