Within the top 3 worst dining experiences of my life. Not sure if it was an off night but I wish I could rewind and go somewhere else because the experience ruined an otherwise perfect day. We booked a night before after what looked like a busy night and they couldn’t get us in. We arrive at 9 PM on the dot for a reservation. The server takes our drink order soon after but we don’t see them again until my husband walks over to the other side of the restaurant at 9:45 to ask for a check for our water because we were going to leave. No one had checked on us or took our food order for 45 minutes. I am pregnant so I was quite miserable. On top of that AC was not working and I was on the verge of passing out. The server comes over and is very apologetic saying it’s a busy night. She insist that we stay and then our food will come out ASAP. at that point, I should’ve said no it’s OK. We’re gonna go somewhere with air-conditioning. However, we stupidly decided to stay. We ordered two rolls and a salad. Two rolls do come out within about 10 minutes. But once we finished those, we were left wondering if they forgot about our salad. We did not receive that until about 15 minutes after we received the rolls. I am livid at this point because I’m starving, hot, dizzy, and tired. When the salad comes out, I find out that it’s a hot salad and the lettuce has wilted because of the hot noodles. Very unappetizing. Luckily my husband asked for the check as soon as the salad came out. we ate what we could and left immediately. On our way back to our hotel room stopped at market and grab some bread and cheese to satiate the hunger that still lingered within me. The bread and cheese was the best part of my meal last night. For such a busy place with decent reviews, I am shocked at the experience I had but happy for everyone else who had much...

My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at Obi after seeing so many great reviews — unfortunately, our experience was nothing like what we hoped. The food itself was okay, but the service was extremely disappointing. I ordered the Yume cocktail, which is supposed to come with a bubble as advertised on their social media, yet mine arrived without it. Later on, we noticed other customers ordering the same drink and receiving the full presentation, which was very disappointing.

Our starters arrived promptly and were tasty enough, though nothing special. However, our mains took another 40 minutes to come out. To make matters worse, tables who ordered after us were served before we were. When our food finally did arrive, my boyfriend’s burger was cold and soggy, and we were so put off by the wait that we had lost most of our appetite.

We also noticed the waitstaff avoiding our table — they checked on everyone else around us but never once asked if we were enjoying our food. When I eventually asked for a takeaway box for my sushi, the waiter insisted on packing it himself despite me saying I could do it. When I got home, I discovered that one piece of sushi was missing!

We came expecting good food, great service, and polite staff, but instead received the complete opposite. Thank you, Obi, for spoiling our anniversary — we definitely won’t be...

Very average experience. We saw the reviews and came to check it out but we don’t think it’s as nice as mentioned by others.

Restaurant’s environment is very dim, trying to create a cozy and intimate high-end restaurant vibe.

Food itself tastes like average Asian fusion restaurants level but more expensive. We ordered a gyoza and it came with 4 tiny gyoza that was very beautifully played, but tasted like your neighborhood Asian market bought frozen gyoza, and it was €10. The sushi we ordered was fine, but just fine, again it tastes like average Asian fusion restaurant sushi. It just feels like the restaurant is trying to package and sell itself like a nice fine dining restaurant but the taste of food doesn’t match with that fine dine level.

The services was also average. I didn’t experience the “warm welcome like you are a family” like other reviews mentioned, but it was fine. Though the waiters seemed rather like robots that shows no emotions at all. That being said, I don’t necessarily have anything against them — maybe they are just tired, who knows? The part that bothers me is again this restaurant seems to be going for the high end experience and charging like so, but those fine dine restaurants would not provide services that seemed to came from an average diner.

Overall, it was average, but probably...

OBI Japanese Fusion in St. Julians, Malta, offers a unique dining experience, though with a few areas for improvement, leading to a 4/5 rating. The menu choices were intriguing, including ceviche and prawn bao buns for starters, followed by a tuna bowl and fried rice with prawns for the main course. The prawn bao buns were a delight, though slightly on the sweeter side. The fried rice and tuna bowl were the stars of the meal - perfectly prepared and full of flavor. However, the ceviche was a bit of a letdown, being overly bitter and sour. The ambiance of the restaurant had its ups and downs. While the vibe was lively, the tables felt cramped, especially with the larger plate sizes, making the dining experience less comfortable. Additionally, the music was a touch too loud, which, while energetic, could be overwhelming. In summary, OBI Japanese Fusion stands out for its flavorful main dishes and energetic atmosphere, but with some adjustments in food balance and dining comfort, it could truly excel. It’s definitely a place to consider for an innovative Japanese dining experience

The food here is fabulous!! I definitely want to visit again. The service was absolutely lovely too. Very happy about all that. However it was a Saturday evening and there was a dj and musicians playing. They were really good too. You can hear a "but" coming.....I was there with my beautiful partner and it was so loud we were virtually unable to talk across the table. Now, I'm used to loud music and I love it, I go to a lot of Trance gigs, but (there it is) I was hoping and expecting a fabulous romantic meal with easy, comfortable chat and that did not happen. I nerdily took a dB reading, and we averaged 98.8dB(A) (this is an approximate, obviously), but I do feel it was quite a bit too much for eating to. Consider that on a construction site 87dB(A) is the value that shouldn't be exceeded, and typical nightclub readings are 98 to 112dB(A). We had a lovely evening and chatted using WhatsApp but it was like eating in a nightclub
