Palio's Trattoria — Restaurant in Saint Julian's

My overall experience at Palio's Trattoria was quite enjoyable. The setting at The Westin Dragonara Resort adds a lovely touch to the dining atmosphere, making it a great spot for both a relaxed meal and a special occasion.

The highlight for us was definitely the food. I highly recommend starting with the grilled octopus and calamari — they were cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. For the main course, the veal was excellent; it was juicy and well-prepared, though I wish there had been more detailed information on the menu about the portion size (such as grams) to better plan our meal.

One area that could use improvement is the menu descriptions. The food menu and wine list lacked detailed descriptions, which sometimes led to a bit of confusion. We found ourselves asking quite a few questions, especially about the wine selection. For example, we ordered a Spanish wine without knowing what type it was — luckily, it turned out to be a Rioja, but more clarity on the menu would have been helpful.

Was looking for a good Italian on the island while here, my other half can’t eat fish so we had to find Italians that didn’t focus as much of the seafood of the med. Arrived without a booking and was quickly and very friendly seated with beautiful views of the sea.

Staff were all full of smiles and couldn’t do enough to help you. Their customer service was excellent.

Good wise, this has to go down as some of the best Italian food I have had, ndjua arancini balls were outstanding and I actually can’t tell you how good my Beef Calamatara was as I struggle to find a word to properly fit how amazing it was.

Drinks were well served and they had a wide variety of them. I had the Blue Label which is a local beer/shandy and it was a good accompaniment to the meal.

Desserts are also delightful, pistachio and berries cheesecake was out of this world!

To top it off we got the bill and expecting into 3 figures for the 3courses plus drinks and bottled water?? Well no actually, it was incredibly modest pricing and I would have easily paid more for that level of food and service.

I had a wonderful experience at Palio’s — everything from the food to the atmosphere was truly enjoyable. The focaccia was fresh and absolutely delicious, setting the tone for a great meal. I ordered the burrata salad, which was fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. For dessert, the apple crumble was the perfect finish, warm, comforting, and just the right amount of sweetness.

The staff were fantastic, not only attentive and professional, but also genuinely friendly and fun to talk to. They added a personal touch to the meal with their humor and warm energy, which made the evening even more memorable.

The view of the sea added so much to the experience — it made our family meal feel even more special and relaxing. The ambiance was calm and inviting, and we all had a great time together.
