Primitivo Grill — Restaurant in Saint Julian's

We went for dinner with my family last week!

We got warm bread, that is one of the few places in Malta where they serve fresh from the oven bread!!!! It was delicious!!!!!

We ordered for an appetiser Polpette di Zuccini - it was cooked to perfection as well! It is soft texture and rich taste.

For the main course I ordered beef cheeks, which to be honest was “ok”, it was not as tender and soft as it could be. Also mash potatoes was super salty. We had a side of grilled vegetables, which had too much rosemary on it, regardless what you eat, you can taste only rosemary.

My husband wanted a ribeye and we were surprised that it is not on the menu. However, when we asked if there is a ribeye, they said “yes,sure!”. I just do not understand why there is no such option on the menu. The ribeye was great, it was very tender and juicy! We both liked it a lot!

The restaurant has quite relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. I would recommend to visit...

✅The meat was amazing! Dry Spanish cut. However the side dishes have way too small portions considering that the average table would consume 1,~kg of meat shared with at least 1 person the sides are too small. The starter made of wild boar meatballs and caramelised onion was tasty as well as the bread and the wine.

❌the service is too insistent, it’s good to check on customers but too much is too much , moreover the waitress started plating the meat on her own initiative without asking, until I kindly asked her to 🛑 ✋ stop.

Also the waitress overheard that we were speaking in Spanish so she immediately switched to Spanish which I understand it can be interpreted as a friendly gesture but at the same time it felt a bit condescending making assumptions about us. Primitivo Grill -a steakhousewith an Italian twist is a great spot for anyone who appreciates well-prepared meat. The menu offers a variety of dry-aged steaks from different countries – including Spain, Denmark, and Argentina – with different aging times to choose from.

The steaks we had were delicious – perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. The quality reminded me of the famous Gallagher’s Steakhouse in New York City, which I didn’t think could be matched elsewhere. I was genuinely surprised to find this level of food in paceville, Malta. The staff were excellent – professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. They gave great advice on which cut would suit our preferences, and the wine pairing was also spot on, with thoughtful recommendations.
