Quadro — Restaurant in Saint Julian's

Our stay 3314 Westin Draganora Hotel. A visit to Quadro a must. Arrived 3rd September with my daughter & husband. Had our table pre booked by The concierge in reception. 7.30 party of 3. Upon arrival, exquisite vistas. Welcomed by young gentlemen asked re reservation. I said yes 7.30 room 3314. We were not there. But room 314 was. So I was told I had a trusting face. I mentioned perhaps an error on your side with a digit missing. So sorted , seated at our table. Vistas over the sea so beautiful. Breeze lovely.and welcomed too. Excellent choice of wine. We choose BAROLA 2014 well priced too we found. Nice bottle of bubbly too. With still and fizzy waters large bottles. Delicious starters chosen. Some very fine ravioli by my daughter. I chose Meagre local fish, quiet like sea bass. All veggies came with it. My husband chose beef. Succulent. Chef sent us whilst awaiting some beef cheek served Beef Wellington style in pastry. Tasty too. Lovely breads. Olive oil with paste and garlic delicious for dipping. Desserts. I chose Pineapple Tart. Others chose choclate filled Pudding with white chocolate inside, ice cream. All delicious. This duo team who tended to us one very pleasant gent and one smiling and super friendly young lady. Very attentive and very informative too. We so enjoyed our experience here. Great place, probably the best food in the area and in reality deserves five stars as it is the best experience we had by a long way around St Juliens and Paceville. However because Quadro is really trying to be a true fine dining experience I have to deduct a few points. Firstly, the service, while very helpful and friendly, was quite slow and disorganised when compared to restaurants of this calibre elsewhere. You shouldn't ever feel like you have to look out for and make effort to grab a server at this level. Secondly the main courses were fairly underwhelming when compared to the starters and desserts, which were really top class. The main courses, while well cooked and tasty were not at the same level of refinement as the rest of the meal and probably could be found at other local places to the same standard. Please don't let this put you off, Quadro is great and you'll have a fantastic experience here, I just hope they can push themselves to the next level as Malta deserves a...

My partner and I had the most divine meal here last night. We opted to skip the starter and go for a main course and dessert. He had the ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection. This came with sweet potato side - also delicious. I had the spaghetti with clams which was a perfect sized portion and very tasty. With this I ordered a half bottle of the Maltese Isis white wine and it was so nice I shall be getting more of this st the airport on my way home! My partner had the sorbet for dessert which he said was delicious - and I had the AO chocolate which was just out of this world. The food aside when it comes to service, this was the best we have had in St. Julian’s. Top class in every way- a special mention to Jovana or server she was outstanding.

A note to Mr Hugo - 3 of whose establishments we visited over the weekend- take yourself to Quadro and learn a thing or two about how your staff should treat their customers because yours are the rudest we have ever encountered anywhere...
