Not even five minutes after being seated, one of us went to the bathroom. Upon his return, he overheard the waiters making fun of him, suggesting he was drunk and walking strangely. Unbeknownst to them, we speak Italian, so we understood their remarks. When we asked the waiter who made those comments to come to our table and explain, he denied having said anything.
Furthermore, the owner approached us quickly, without inquiring about the situation, and instructed us to order immediately or leave. Needless to say, we chose to leave and went to eat elsewhere.
Not only were we ridiculed, but we were also treated as if we were the culprits in this situation. I have never experienced anything like this in a restaurant, where the customer is usually considered right and should be treated with care. At the very least, they could have asked what was happening and offered an apology.
Malta and St Julian's are full of dining options; I recommend going somewhere else to avoid being treated impolitely. This also explain why the restaurant was empty when we arrived compared to all the other places who are...

The chef patron is a real character who comes out to speak with his guests, adding to the ambience. The chef's wife is also speaking with the guests, ensuring a top dining experience.
The food is delicious! Make sure to ask chef for a selection of typical Italian antipasti to start off. As main course you can get a nice piece of steak, fish or a fantastic plate of pasta... All dishes serve the characteristic Italian flavour and taste.
The restaurant also offers a good selection of wines with a number of interesting Italian wines as well as wines from other countries.
Staff is very friendly and service is quite timely.

Seafood tends to be especially good (the misleadingly-named fish soup is my personal favourite), and the dessert cannolo uses sheep ricotta which is a bonus for my gluten-intolerant and cow-lactose intolerant wife. Most nights the chef is the one taking the food order and (passionately) explaining the dishes. Service tends to get too slow at peak hours. However, on the flip side the consistent staff is knowledgeable, pleasant, welcoming and the family atmosphere suits me fine. Prices are fair, i.e. they often seem low next to its competitors, but naturally dinner doesn't come...
