Santini Restaurant — Restaurant in Saint Julian's

I'm not one for leaving less than 5 stars unless there is reason. The food here was absolutely excellent, but there were several things that unfortunately went wrong.

First couple of points. An Italian restaurant that doesn't server Bolognese, Lasagne, Coffee or Gelatto! Also, be warned, there isn't a kids menu or portion option, and the wine ie by the bottle and at an almost 300% mark up in price.

We totally understood that a clam opened and dropped sand and that the 2 x dishes needed to be remade, but no one told us this until 10 minutes after 5 other mains had been served. So we sat and our food went cold whilst we expectantly waited for the last two children's dishes.

We also understand that the desserts are cooked freshly, but again, no one told us this until 15 minutwa after 3 x other desserts were served!

We also asked for coffee, an Americano and a Cappuccino, again, it took the server 10 minutes to tell us they couldn't make either.... In an Italian restaurant...

The manager was nice enough at the end of the meal and after us complaining twice over the two and half hours we were there.... I know there were 7 of us, but we seemed to be there an age.... though only gave us a €5 discount off the BILL saying the free limoncello we saw him serve everyone after their meal was "On him"....

Unfortunately, I can’t say anything good about this place. The four of us just went in to get something to eat. Two of us wanted to eat dinner and two of us wanted to just get some dessert. After looking at the menu we decided to go for dessert and only one of us decided to order something else. When the waiter came up to take our order and found out that we were not going to drink anything and that we were only going to eat dessert, he couldn’t hide his disappointment. Then a waitress came up and angrily took additional plates and glasses from the table giving us THE LOOK. She walked away to join the other waiter and the manager standing at the bar, probably commented on the situation and now all of them were looking at us obviously making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. In my opinion it shouldn’t have to matter what you order to get a good service. I feel appalled by this situation and definitely do not recommend this place. There are plenty of other places in the close vicinity where people are nice and happy to make you feel comfortable at their...

We ate here two times. The first time we were seated right by the entrance, where tens of people were standing around our table waiting to be seated for what felt like an hour. Getting the waiter’s attention is also very difficult as they are constantly looking down.

The second time we ate here we specifically requested a table that was far from the AC one night in advance. Upon arriving we were placed right under the AC and apparently no other tables were available. We asked 4 times to turn down the AC above us and were ignored each time (in fact they turned it up at one point). The restaurant has around 6 ACs, keeping the room at a chilly 15 degrees. The one above us was the only one turned on. Surely they could’ve switched some other one on or place us at a different table, but no.

On the bright side the food was rather good. Compliments to the people working in the kitchen, too bad they have to work with the other...
