Blue Whale Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Saint Paul's Bay

Arrived without a reservation on a Tuesday evening and after some dliberation amongst the staff we were shown to a table for 2. Initial thoughts on the restaurant were extremely positive. Lovely dining room and a great atmosphere. We ordered some items from the starter menu and asked that they come with the main course. 10 minutes later we are served the starters. We then had to wait another ther 60 minutes for the main course to be served. I ordered the Beef in Birds nest, I was shocked when the dish was served and it was nothing more than Beef in batter with sweet n sour sauce. 28 Euros fo basically beef balls with sweet n sour sauce. My wife's food was no better and she left the lot after only a few mouthfuls which is extremely unlikely her. I also left the large majority of my dinner as frankly the food really was not that good. We normally love a good Chinese meal and jumped at the chance given the high Google review score. Safe to say this was a massive disappointment and felt that strongly about our experience to leave a review. 95 Euros for over a 70 minutes wait In total for food, no apology in regard of the poor service, food that was quite frankly sub par. Unfortunately this was a disappointing end to what had been a really good day.

My favourite restaurant we went to in Malta in the weekend we were there - purely because of the view and the service. The waiter catered to our needs and the music was all my favourite stuff - jazzy things. The music really created an ambient atmosphere perfect for a dinner. The interior and table design was beautiful. I had the chicken siu mai and the Blue Whale Friend Rice served with curry sauce. I’ve never had curry sauce but it was a yummy addition. Bombastic!!! We had an incredible Christmas Eve Menue I will never forget. Everything is very stylish and done with the utmost love! The furniture, the quality of food and the taste of cooking and served in a surprising nice looking style. I come again definetely!!! And the people are lovelely there too, especially the Owner and the waiters too. And the view is also so nice over this small harbor... Meanwhile we tried also the Blue Elephant in the Hilton Hotel yesterday 3.1.24. But this is much lower level compared to Blue Whale. Now I can highly recommend just Blue Whale is the best Chinese Restaurant on Malta! And I couldnt find such a good one in the rest of world by now!!!...
