We visited this restaurant last weekend and it was really good. Strong points: The ambiance of the restaurant is amazing, they have a dj playing music, the decor is great, and it's next to the sea, so the views are very beautiful. The service is very good, the staff is super friendly, and the dishes and cocktails came out pretty fast. The menu is very varied, and the portions are pretty good. Among the dishes we ordered there were some that we loved, and others that we didn't so much. I would recommend the Salmon Tiradito, the smoked beef Bao Bun, the grilled cheese with truffle, and the fried prawn sushi. On the other hand, among the dishes that I liked the least were the Tuna Ceviche, I didn’t like the mix of flavors, too sweet for me, the fried chicken, which I found tasteless and not crunchy at all, and the desserts. As for the cocktails, I made the mistake of ordering a spicy margarita, and it was too spicy for my taste, and we ordered another cocktail that was very tasty. I would definitely go back as I loved the ambiance, and some of the dishes were pretty tasty!

LOA could be a great location if there wasn't so much that just makes it an expensive wannabe fancy-pants rip-off. All the umbrellas on the spacious outdoor terrace closed, no cushions on the lounge furniture and chairs, just a row of uncleaned tables with chairs right next to the restaurant, on which the cushions that were actually meant for the entire outdoor area are piled up. Actually a reason to move on right away! None of the tables were set or in any way inviting. (Quite different inside: all tables tastefully set!). Unfortunately, the entrance was hard to find, because the great lighting was also off and apparently no one wants guests on a Wednesday evening??? We still asked if it was open. And yes: we were allowed (sic) to sit on one of the few opened tables in the outdoor area (20 degrees C).... Anyway: we had read the reviews and thought: let's try it out! The service was nice, but had failed to wipe our table, make us somehow comfortable and bring placemats, salt & pepper or similar to our table. Very sad, since it is expensive "fine dining"! Even choosing a bottle of local red wine and ordering the multi-course menu for 2 people did not change the behavior of the service. Why should the guests who order a high-priced menu have it nice? It does not need it! New guests will come again tomorrow... (really???) About the food: this was certainly up to the standards of a creative cuisine / presentation (see photos) - but unfortunately, also due to the atmosphere, no more. Great to look at and delicious ideas, just everything not thought through to the end. More appearance than reality! For dessert, no question about a coffee or the like. We ordered the cappuccinos when the dessert was already at the table. That should be asked beforehand and then come together. At this price actually standard! Very sad @Team from LOA: You could have scored points and easily get 5 stars! But you are too comfortable and obviously have no desire. You were with us and 7 other guests certainly not at your load limit. Apparently you are doing too well and so I advise all visitors who want to spent 160 EUR for a delicious and nice dining experience to your competition just around the corner (e.g. UMI - see my other review). Go there sometime. This is how service and "fine dining" should be! 3 stars because the food was delicious - otherwise it would be 1 underground star for "extra bad service on the island"....

We came for a dinner as we heard and read a lot of good reviews about the place.. Food is highly overpriced for the tiny portions - don't get me wrong, we go often to good, very good or fine dining restaurants so we don't expect home style portions, but portions there were just miniatures of plates.. firstly we ordered 2 starters to share, and waiting time before first and second plate was around 15minutes, with the staff asking asking us if we were ready for the main course between them.. apparently staff didn't know what was going on with our order.. however starters were tasty. Before main course we ordered bottle of wine. Then we received main course, small portion of octopus that we sent back as it was ice cold, we received burrata that we didn't order at all so we sent it back too. By the time we finished our mains wine still haven't arrived so we canceled it. We decided not to take dessert not to get disappointed again and just ordered liquors. After few minutes we were informed that Amaro del Cappo wasn't available so I changed for a whisky. Another 10 minutes passed and we still didn't receive it.. when we asked again for our drinks we received only my wife's liquor.. took another few minutes to receive whisky.. As we both work in the restaurant we never make a problems but at lease we expected liquors to be on the house as apologies for delay and wine that never arrived.. apparently it is better to be a difficult customer and making scenes, maybe then staff puts an extra attention for tables that were served wrong and trying to make things right.. Also a bit of advice not to let staff use their mobiles in the middle of the service as some of them were literally holding mobiles and receiving calls and messages while serving.. All in all disappointing experience even though the restaurant is beautiful, with an amaizng view. Place has a lot of potential but execution was poor. Don't think we will ever go there again.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly what was wrong because everything was bad. Starting from how we were greeted to the most important thing, the taste of the food. It was simply a waste of ingredients. Dear Michelin members, this is addressed to you: it was my first time visiting a place on your list that does not have a star, and it is the worst establishment I've been to in Malta and the worst food I've ever eaten. The breakfasts at hotels are of much higher quality in both taste and service. The Michelin rating and list are bought, and my trust in the Michelin list is undermined. I advise you to pass by this place. If you have already decided to order something, order just one item first so that you don't end up buying something very unappetizing for a high price. However, it is better to simply avoid this place because when you are hungry, there is nothing better than a good meal, and this is not the place for that. As for the food, it is tasteless, there is no salt and pepper on the table, chopsticks are not brought with the rolls and had to be requested separately, and the dessert is just super sweet with no other flavors. The waiters do not understand signals to come over when you look them in the eye. A very strange place. There are many truly delicious establishments that are worth visiting and where you can have a good meal.

I really wanted this place to be good, from their cool branding and photography to the beautiful location. The menu looks cool and intrigues the mind with exotic ingredients and wild combinations, too bad that nothing tasted like anything. We ordered fried oysters that only tasted of sriracha(hot sauce) followed by snail fried balls which tasted like dirty oil and some paras, basically fried mash potato, best thing we got to eat that night. After the sad starters we still had some hope towards a simple fried rice with brisket burnt ends, underseasoned, brisket-less and pretty sad overall. To finish our tragedy, we ordered octopus, with pickled pumpkin, a whole 20€ for 80 grams of overcooked, rubbery octopus on top of a spiralized, barely brined piece of raw pumpkin, we actually sent this back, we were offered to swap with some other food item but we had enough, so we opted for a drink (to then still pay the octopus in the bill) Service is good, careful and attentive, music is too high, food was terrible and pretentious, we fell victim to great marketing. Defnetley not going there again.
