Unfortunately, I can’t give more than 5 stars, otherwise I definitely would!
I discovered this restaurant while specifically searching for gluten-free options – otherwise we probably would have never found it. As soon as we walked in, Sarah immediately asked if anyone had celiac disease. That gave me a feeling of safety and trust right away. She explained the daily specials to us, both gluten-free and non-gluten-free. To my surprise, there were gluten-free ravioli – something I had never seen offered anywhere else before! She also listed everything that can be prepared gluten-free. For pizzas, she reassured us that they use a separate oven, utensils, and equipment to completely avoid cross-contamination.
We started with an amuse-bouche from the house, which was confirmed to be gluten-free without me even having to ask! For starters, we had mussels and calamari, which were absolutely delicious. As mains, we chose gluten-free Pasta Frutti di Mare and a Calamari Pizza. Honestly – the best gluten-free pizza I’ve ever eaten! The pasta was just as wonderful. (The pasta portion shown in the attached picture is only the starter size, not the main course.) For dessert, we had a lemon sorbet, which was light, refreshing, and very tasty.
To finish, we were served an espresso on the house – and all of this for less than €60.
A huge thank you to Sarah, who took care of us the entire evening with so much warmth, kindness, and attentiveness. 10 out of 10! Highly recommended – you made my day perfect. We will...

We felt rushed at the end of the meal when they started clearing our table when one of us was still eating. They also forgot the bruschetta starter - they said they didn't write it down, but we saw the server doing so and he even corrected us in our pronunciation of "bruschetta".
We almost leave as soon as we got in as the aircon was barely noticeable. We seated right under it and it was bearable.
Other than that the service was good, and the pizzas are...
Read moreMezaluna is still one of my absolute favourite restaurants. I visit Malta every year, and it's the place I head to for my first meal. I dine there at least once a week, usually twice a week. There are many, many restaurants around the area, but if you are vegan and gluten free, Mezaluna is a great place to visit.
The vegan menu has recently been expanded, but Johann will happily adjust any of the menu items to suit your dietary needs if you ask, and if...
