Generally, would give 4 stars, but it changed after the negative experience the very last time I visited. Was sitting at the table outside. There were also people at the table nearby. Waitress ignored me for at least good 20 min, which itself might not be such a big issue - they could have been busy or smthg. Unless the fact that in this time she managed to come to the nearby table 3 times. Obviously, she knew the people sitting there, because at her first arrival she hugged one of them and did some small talk. Long story short, I was sitting there and watching how she 1) comes and accepts the order (incl. the mentioned hug, smiling & small talk), 2) then fetches their order (this deserves smiling & some more small talk) and 3) comes also for the 3rd time, either to check on them or to take away some dirty dishes (aaaand some small talk again). During all this time, she didn't even make eye contact with me, nor came over at least to tell me that they were busy/or that I would be attended in a few min or smthg similar what you usually expect when waiting to order for a longer time period. Basically, you can expect a really good service there but for that you need to know the waitress personally. Otherwise you are an empty space for her (no smiling was left for me - apparently she had spent her daily dose while attending that other table), which I found to be an extremely rude service. Btw, during that time another couple also came and sat down to the third table outside but they had shorter patience than mine and after some while they moved inside the place, where there are more chances to be "noticed" by someone. I had a dog with me, so could not follow that example. Needless to say, this entirely killed my initial wish to have a dinner there as well as get a take-away for the next working day's lunch. But I guess I actually have to thank the place and the waitress especially because this finally gave me the necessary motivation to invest in a good espresso machine at home and to make my own dinner and lunches. Will be cheaper and healthier in a long-term. Until then I will have to bear with the coffee from the Pit Stop place nearby. Summary: if you respect yourself and the time you spend earning your money, don't choose this place as the place where to leave that well-earned money of yours....

Read moreCafe Lounge is one of the best reasons to visit Xemxija. This is my favourite restaurant on the WHOLE island. We visited them couple of times. Every time service was great (even if we only drink beer), people were smiling and they were really helpful.
Their ftiras (traditional sandwich) blowed my mind! Beautifully served, on a piece of wood, with great tuna and cheese. Finger licking good.
Their pizza is also great: made with fresh ingredients, cake was soft but crispy and portion is so huge.
Rabbit stew - MAGIC! No other words needed. Pasta - very very good.
Ftira costs around 4.5 euro Pizza costs around 8 euro Rabbit stew - 16.5 euro Maltese Pasta - 8.45 euro
