Mission aborted Should have read the reviews more carefully. This place lacks everything you’d expect of a Michelin listed establishment. Seated at a draughty table with flies surrounding us and a dying plant as table decoration with views of an empty dining section used for storage purposes with the only other seated guests too egoistic to find a babysitter for their toddler and the party arriving next oblivious to a fine dining dress code arriving in shorts, black trainers and white socks, we immediately felt uncomfortable. Pushy drink cart service though we already declined a drink upon entering didn’t help either. Our waiter spilled more wine than hit the overdimensioned glasses and left the table cloth stained. We had communicated allergies ahead, yet still staff had to enquire about alternatives with the kitchen and they were anything but close to the original menu option. Starters were an uninspired potatoes and leek soup not even warm and lacking any taste as well as oxidized salmon and tartare bites and a cold chicken liver pie that had been sitting out too long and were probably prepared hours ago. We left after this and staff seemed a little too understanding as if we weren’t the first clients to decide to leave midway. Obviously caters to the British crowds. Sorry we took the...
Read moreAttended a dinner for a friend's birthday party on the dining table in the cellar. The atmosphere was top notch and the staff mostly attentive in the beginning. I was served a pork dish as my main which was absolutely inedible. So dry and tough. I could not manage to eat it even if I tried. As it was a birthday dinner and quite a large group, I did not want to spoil the evening and waited for the staff to come around. Unfortunately they did not notice or ask me why my food was untouched, and only came by to collect the plates at the end of the meal. I told the waiter that it was possibly the worst pork I have had in my life and that I had a better chance of chewing and swallowing my belt. The head waiter came out and said that he agreed 100% that they messed up the pork but I should have told them earlier. They did not comp the meal or offer any complimentary drinks....we were charged full price....for food we did not eat.....this is obviously bad restaurant management.....so disappointing....will...
Read moreI think the extra high expectations I went in with kind of ruined my experience. It's fine dining, yes, and follows all principles, yes. But to me, the service is too mechanical, too matter of fact, not cordial, leaving a feeling of "yet another number", not awaited and appreciated customer. We went for the Valentine's menu, which, while tasty and elaborate, started repeating itself by the 4th course, relying heavily on strong, heavy taste palettes with meat/seafood jus being the key in every dish, while no experiments or delicate combinations were to be found. In addition, as the night got busier, we waited longer than appropriate for our main's plates to be cleared, the dessert to be brought out and finally, for the bill. Not crazy long, but just enough for us to get annoyed. So all in all, good fine dining, but not exceptional and not...
