The atmosphere is great, food is fresh and cooked good but not worth the money at all, the service is ridiculous. It starts from the very beginning when we entered the restaurant. I was wearing jeans shorts and leather slippers, which I always use to walk around the city / town in such warm places like Mauritius. Hostess looked at me and asked if I read the rules after I got a confirmation when booking a table. Well, I didn't remember that and asked what was happening. So she said that it's not acceptable to enter the place in shorts and slippers, but she would let me go inside now, but please next time wear other clothes. Earlier she let other man who was entering the place right before us go inside, he was wearing shorts also. After that we finally got inside and the waiter escorted us to our table. The table was nice, standing on the water, but in real there were a lot of small flies, so sitting and eating in this kind of a table is not very comfy, but this is not the restaurant's fault. When we ordered a dish to share between me and my wife the waiter said to me "I don't know how would you share this". Ok, thank you, but it's not your problem, this is my stuff, you shouldn't say anything like that to a Client. We tried camarons. They are very big prawns. Truly it is a very "sad" dish because they say that there is a 1 kg, but when it's ready you understand that this is 1 kg of a fresh food, but not cooked, and it's a whole camaron. With it's head, tail, claws, body and all the stuff. So you have to clean it by yourself. After cleaning you will get maximum 180-200 grams of a prawn meat. When you clean a big prawn cooked in butter, you will have your hands full of grease, so you have to clean your hands. Usually the seafood restaurants give you the bowl with a lemon water. There was no. I asked. They brought it after 15 minutes but the water was hot (around 90°), it was impossible to put a hand inside to clean it. Why did you do this, people? For what? Ah, btw, the rose wine which we ordered, was good! So, absolutely do not recommend to go there. It's not worth. Additionally you will pay for a taxi there and back because the place is situated in a "nowhere" location. Forgot to say: my wife had a birthday that day, they knew about this, but there were nothing, either they could just say "Happy birthday", we didn't expect anything in addition. In a lot of places where we have been in the past if they know, even suddenly, they made a small cake or a discount. That is nice generally. But not in...
Read moreJust a warning to all new customers or for anyone wanting to try this restaurant. Do not waste your time as it's on your dime. They do have bad days and good days but for the most part, it's bad days.
We had a party of 4 on 1/12/2017 for dinner and by far the worst service and food I've ever had. My wife ordered a cocktail and tasted watered down and had to order another one which was more appropriate. I ordered a whiskey with a splash of water and waiter did not understand at all and brought a bottle of water, sure. Ignorance is bliss.
In the process of ordering appetizers and find out that we cannot order any of them as they do not have heart of palm but still want to charge the same price for a bed of lettuce. Never heard or seen this before. Waiter did not apologize at all. We ordered something else instead.
Ordered main course and mine was the grilled lobster with garlic butter and flambé with whisky. After the flambé was done by the waiter, it looked pretty good as you see in the picture but was inedible after first bite as it was bitter. Not sure what happened there and had both my wife and mum try it out and both said that it was bitter as well. Spoke with the waiter and he acted dumbfounded and still did not apologize. He walked off with my plate and I asked to replaced it with what my wife is having and after quite a while, I catch him walking around and ask him if I'm getting my food and he tells me; "kitchen is close and they close at 10". Thanks for heads up. Lack of training, customer service and total disregards for the customer.
Came for dinner with the family and left with no dinner, hungry and baffled. The restaurant only care about big groups as they make much more money and the small parties suffer so unless you're a big party, don't waste your time as you might not get the service that you deserve instead opt for small family owned restaurant where you will treated much better and like family at some of them. As far as I am concerned, I will never be back and by the reputation of it after talking to several people on the island, it's only a matter of time before it becomes a fly by night restaurant if they keep this up. Money is the only thing on the mind of the restaurant and nothing else. Thanks...
Read more3.5 stars.unclear menu and No tap water. to people that have been before, they have a new menu. Still Chinese focus but also some contemporary mains. Most dishes come without rice etc and you buy it extra.and this is where the oddity appears. There's no menu or mention of which dishes come with rice or chips etc, no menu with prices or opinions for fried rice, steamed rice and fried noodles, though they make these things. The Ifish stir fryed with capsicum was delicious though be aware the fish is thickly battered and fried first and I found the fish main to be a much smaller serving than the beef main. Infact it was served in a smaller platter too and doubled in size due to the batter on it.nice size serve of fried rice but for 315 MR , i would've chosen another main instead. Very odd menu. Ti punch was served as straight rum with a slice of lemon and I guess I expected some sugar, ice or something to turn it from just a shot of alcohol to an actual mixed drink. With no tap water and only large bottles to purchase I was ripped 130 MR for a bottle. And I've just found out that everyone's fried rice was served without chicken or sausage (just 1 serve required modification and very clearly communicated and confirmed). Service professional by our waiter and ofcourse the Saturday night entertainment was awesome as always.actually I'd say better than I remember. Just great entertainers. I'd suggest opening the outside bar on a Saturday night and adding some vegetarian main options and add a page to the menu with prices for carbs like rice, noodles, fries etc. Sit outside for Saturday entertainment (stars about 9pm), ask your waiter about dishes that include carbs and get some sugar syrup in your rum.... then dance off all...
