We recently visited Flora Farms for a regional salsa cooking class. This was an exceptional experience because their hospitality shines through. The team has thought through every detail to make you comfortable from start to finish:
Check-in: Once you enter the property, you are met by a farm guide that checks you into the class and offers you drinks (water and lemonade) to keep the scorching heat at bay. Cooking class start: Once everyone arrives, they lead everyone to the cooking class area where the Flora Farms team has laid out the cooking class set-up for each person, table setting for lunch, and a beverage station. Although the class is outdoors, it was very comfortable with the umbrellas’ ample shade and fans running as well. Farm tour: After we settled in, we went on the brief farm tour. They provided straw hats to provide some protection from the sun during our stroll on the farm. Our farm guide shared the history about the farm, and highlighted the produce grown on the property. Cooking class: The cooking class was a fabulous introduction to Mexican cuisine. We first made a roasted salsa and pico de gallo, then the chef and his assistants prepared two types of guacamole. They also provided a short introduction of the tortilla making process, from nixtamalization to finished tortilla. The cooking portion lasted a total of 1.5 hours, and time flew by because it was engaging and informative. Lunch: We wrapped up our cooking class by digging into all the food we made along with the sides they had prepared (salads, rice, beans, and key lime pie!). The thoughtfulness was further highlighted by the burning rosemary set-up during lunch to ward off bugs and the to-go containers for all the extra food.
All in all, Flora Farms is a highly recommended destination during your time in Cabo. I will definitely revisit, have a meal at their restaurant, and take another cooking class the next time we are in town. I hope they offer intermediate classes in the future so that we can dive even deeper into...
Read moreI first heard of this place from my husband’s coworker. I then checked their menu and did not think much of it but decided to just make dinner reservation anyways.
Boy, I was glad we booked a car rental because getting there required a little bit of an off-roading trip up the mountain. Once we parked, I was turned off by the overpriced shops before we entered. However, the rustic farm feel of the place quickly appeased to me. I love the rustic table setting and their sustainable way of living from using bamboo straws to using real, re-washable hand towels in their washroom.
We ordered the strawberry basil bourbon, it was meh for me. I should have read the bourbon part since I was not a fan of mixing bourbon with anything. Then we were greeted by an amuse bouche of beet puree and some sort of manchego cheese and it was the perfect palate warmup we needed for what was coming towards us. We were then given complimentary bread and it was a crime for them to be giving that for free. That bread was so good and stone-oven baked!
We then got the catch of the day and the bacon pizza. The cheese on the pizza literally tasted like it just got milked from the cow next door and then processed quickly to be turned into cheese. The catch of the day was sea bass and I can still feel the life pulsing through the fish. That was how good and fresh everything tasted.
However! The farm to table setting comes with the prize. You will be swarmed with flies :(. But please do not let this discourage you. Their food is so fresh, it is all worth it. It was so good we had to stop by for lunch for another pizza and a fettuccini on our way back to the airport because it Flora farms makes a very fitting last meal that we have to finish of our Los Cabos vacation.
Thank you so much Flora farms and we hope you thrive because we would our friends and family to taste...
Read moreI 1st went to Flora Farms 6 years ago and have been back many times since. This is such an incredible environment and the food is so fresh and incredible. On this trip I went twice and had the lucky experience of enjoying the Saturday night music from Shamans Baja. Incredible 4 musicians who have played together since they were 13. Awesome music, awesome food and of course the staff from the reservation/welcome crew, to the waiters, runners and waiter’s assistants were all top notch and super friendly. Lastly I believe a senora with great style who was the main manager could not have been nicer to come over and see how I was doing. All in all, don’t come to Cabo without going to Flora Farms!!
Update August 2025: Another great meal last night at Flora Farms. Food amazing, atmosphere beautiful and although loving to see the Shamans perform, the jazz with vocal band made great music for the night. Josue our waiter also was fantastic in niceness and attentiveness. The manger too came over to make sure all was good and of course it was. I’ll be back again this trip for another great meal and again in the near future. Keep up the great work Flora…. Btw, get there early to enjoy the property and great boutique stores on property.
Went back a 2nd night this trip and glad I did as the beets appetizer, ravioli main course and lime/olive oil sorbet for desert. They were all out of this world!!! Also started with a delicious mocktail of apple, ginger and honey…. Delicious!!! Tonight Alex took GREAT care of me. Look forward to my next trip and visit to Cabo and...
