I went to Marios after checking the reviews. But was highly disappointed. There are a few points i would want to advice on. Throughout my travels across mexico, i found that none of the prices are fixed. Always negotiate. They try to cheat foreign tourists. We paid $50 while natives on our boat paid around $20. I felt cheated as soon as I learnt this (on the boat) and it soured my experience. Check for the season. It starts late December. And your experience may greatly vary. Also begininng and end of the seasons are bad as you would see very few whales and it would be an ordinary experience. Not just season, even the time of days are important. Mornings are generally better. Marios were unprofessional. They sent us on boat with non-english speaking driver and he hardly communicated to us. Also we just saw one whale that too from a far. I understand that experiences vary. But I confirmed with the guide as we had a couple of days to tour during the best time and day. We reached around 10am and and we had next 2 days there. They convinced us to go on 11am tour even though it was quite evident later that it was a bad timing and they just wanted us because they had only 2 people in that tour and with us they could make money right there. Morning are generally full. After bad experience they would try to convince you for another tour. That felt like a scam. I tried talking to the boat people for a tour but those areas are restricted.

Read moreTheir Whale watching tours are amazing. I love and appreciate all of the staff. Miriam, on WhatsApp! She’s so responsive and helpful. Francisco and Cynthia are phenomenal educators and guides sharing presentations bi-lingual, and assist bedore, and after the boat tour and on the van ride to/from the lagoons, educating, as well as ensure safety and customer satisfaction up to boat embarkation. I respect and appreciate their efforts immensely! Once boarded, Capitan Daniel or Manuel are both wonderful! They are truly amazing. They are so respectful and abide by the enforcement of rules of the protected area, truly ensure the passengers and whales all stay safe, and absolutely have provided the most amazing whale watching experiences! Coming back to a nice sack lunch is a wonderful way to be present and take in the experience of the heart opening whale encounters. I feel so thankful for the entire staff at Mario’s that truly put so much energy and effort into their business. I especially appreciate their efforts to educate and share knowledge sd well as these amazing encounter in a safe and cooperative manner. Big thanks to you all. My 6th trip with them…and can’t wait to join with groups in future...
Read moreMy friend and I stumbled on Mario's on a motorcycle trip in September after a very long day riding the terrible road south from San Felipe. It was the off-season and it was a Sunday night, and it was so quiet when we walked in that we thought maybe they'd be closed for the season. But Mario was happy to have us, and his wonderful wife fired up the kitchen even though we'd rolled in kind of late. The restaurant was really good, probably the classiest place you'll find to eat in Guerrero Negro. After dinner and several beers, Mario let us camp in the campground behind his place for free (we were tent campers, RV's probably cost a little). The campground was pretty nice, well organized, with a bathroom with actually plumbing. They certainly had the nicest facilities we'd seen at a campground in a couple of days. It wasn't the season for whale-watching, so we didn't get a chance to try out Mario's tours, but I'd definitely recommend Mario's for anyone else traveling...
