Candelia Cocina del Valle — Restaurant in Baja California

Went to Candelia with family and friends for the very first time. The views from Candelia are amazing! Perfect place to watch the sun set as you're having dinner, as this restaurant is very close to the beach. The decor is great with indoor and outdoor seating. GREAT location!!! The food on the other hand, NOT worth the price. A friend and I, both ordered the rib eye and bone marrow (tuetano) tacos. For some odd reason our orders came out at different times. My friend got hers first, and half an hour later, I got mine. 🤷‍♂️ She was not happy with her food, as she mentioned the rib eye was a bit tough. Mine was just okay, but tender. My other friend ordered cochinita pibil and was very satisfied with it. I tried it, and I must admit it was flavorful! Drinks were delightful!! I ordered a tamarindo margarita, and it was pure bliss. Everyone enjoyed their drinks, and we had no complaints there. The worst part of our experience at Candelia was the service. 😖 The waitress was very sweet and kind, but the long wait times just to get our food was very disappointing. The place wasn't even busy. There was just one other group people there besides us, so I don't know why it took so long to get our order. Overall, I give this place 2 stars. Stay away this place represents as a 5 star nice fancy place but has old food flies everywhere and the guy in the fancy jacket has his head down sleeping at the bar and doesn’t care if you tell him how bad and how old the food was hate to do a bad review as I have 5 vacation homes and rely on reviews but want to tell people to not waste their time here. We have owned a condo and a beach house here for over 20 years so always want to try a new place but wish the reviews were more current and correct after talking to a friend who also lives here he said food is always old and that was what we experienced too stale bread old fish left in fridge overnight and stuck to the plate and flies all over the place and my blouse kept sticking to the bar stool chair. When I told Tony the guy in charge he just said he wasn’t going to do anything for us and we left I feel bad for the servers they are set up to fail we paid our bill in full plus left her a good tip but felt totally wronged and will never return again just wanted to leave the true and honest review about this over priced place fancy looks but old bad food and terrible management. We stopped by for a glass of wine and a quick dinner, and we were pleasantly surprised. The ocean front setting is beautiful, the restaurant was spotless and our waitress was very attentive.
