Ensamble 43 — Restaurant in Baja California

My friends and I came to Ensamble 43 for a birthday dinner, and it completely blew our minds. The restaurant itself is elegant, with simple but beautiful design and decor. The staff is very friendly and chipper, always easy to speak with and willing to help.

We ordered a huge spread, including the ceviche, carbonara with shrimp, mussels, arrachera, chicharron and guacamole, al pastor tacos, and a whole roasted cauliflower. Everything was delicious and presented beautifully.

The ceviche was absolutely incredible. The tuna was extremely fresh and the beet marinade and fruit mixture masked the taste of fish to the extent that I thought it was vegan for a little while. I don’t even like fish, but this was so good it truly wowed me.

The steak had a deep wood-fired flavor and was the perfect medium rare. When you paired it with guacamole it was an incredible bite that had so much flavor and creaminess to it. The cauliflower was quite tasty as well, despite being a fairly simple dish. The tacos were juicy and well-marinated, too.

Holy moly. This is by far the best meal I've had in a long time. Please see the photos! The drinks were delicious. The aguas were pure fruit juice. Cocktails were made with expert bartenders.

The food was out of this world. It felt as if I was eating at a Michelin Star rated restaurant. This is a travel destination. Needs to be highlighted how delicious the food was.

On top of everything, the service was amazing. I went out with my wife and my parents and everyone was treated with respect and care.

The Activido was seasoned octopus over seasoned potatoes. Best octopus I've ever had in my life.

My dad had the tuna ceviche with fruit. The fruit blended so well with the acidic lemon flavor.

My mom had the 4 cheese pasta (can't say too much because I am lactose)

My wife had octopus risotto. She liked her meal more than mine!

Can’t stress how much of hidden gem this place is! I came by on Sunday without reservation to any spot in Tecate, so we found ensamble by chance and boy I don’t not regret it one bit.

Now let’s talk about the food! The cauliflower was to die for and the steak was on point! We tried quite a few dishes and the whole group was impressed with the quality (farm to table) and attention to detail from the staff. I wasn’t able to snap another picture of the dishes as we dug in as soon as they brought them to the table.

The space is small and intimate, ideal for a date or even a small group of friends in the garden area which has a nice vibe to it. There are many great restaurants in the area, but this one feels like a little refuge with a chill valle of Guadalupe vibe to it....
