This is probably one of the worst “high-end” restaurants we’ve ever dinned in before. We had a reservation for three couples in the terrace. When we arrived the assist/manager said our table wasn’t ready and offered us some drinks while we waited. We asked for two waters, one sangria, and a carajillo. First red flag was that they brought a huge glass bottle with water, and that the carajillo came out but the sangria didn’t. Total wait time on the sangria was about 15 minutes. We were seated on the main floor 30 minutes after our reservation, because nothing had been available on the terrace, second red flag poor organization. The menu wasn’t basic but it didn’t offer many options, so we opted for the rib eye prime which costs $1,600 pesos (most expensive dish) and the ribs, along with the shrimp, and tuna ceviche. The guys had ordered cold Tequila Don Julio 70, and requested limes and salt. After waiting over 20 minutes for the salt and lemons the guys ordered another round of Don Julio 70 only to realize that they switched the tequila out for a cheaper one. When we asked about it the waiter denied it and said that it taste different because it was kept in the freezer. Third red flag was that the waiter couldn’t provide an explanation on to why the tequila had been switched, after a few moments of telling the waiter that it was the wrong tequila no resolution happened, we were stuck with the a different tequila and we still paid for it. The service was very slow, we were constantly having to track down our waiter. Two tables that came after us got their food first. One of the couples ate by herself because her food came out 30 minutes before the rest of the food did. One of the plates never came out and my tuna ceviche was warm and very salty. Usually when the food is bad at least the drinks are good but at this restaurant all the drinks are pricey and watered down, you couldn’t taste the alcohol in the prepared drinks. When the rib eye came out we were so disappointed waited over an hour and it came out looking like roast beef. Nothing fancy about it, it was dry and fully cooked even though we requested 2/3. The garnish they put on it was gross and tasted like too much vinegar. The ribs we got were basic, it looked and smelled like something you get at a quinceañera. The basically served us barbaquoa. If the food and drinks are good the price you’re paying for the service is worth it, but at this place we left with almost $6,000 pesos worth of food and drink and we all left disappointed because it has nothing special to it, except that it’s expensive. If you’re a steak lover just like my boyfriend, don’t order the meats here because you will leave so disappointed with the quality and taste. Worst of all is that we paid $150 pesos for water, the sangria and carajillo that We ordered while we waited for our table was also charged on the bill which for me was a surprise because I’ve been to high end restaurants and the drink they give you while you wait is usually a courtesy drink from the restaurant. I don’t recommend this place, the manager not once came to our table to check up on us, instead he was seen sitting with two different tables and talking to them. Whenever he saw we needed something he would send our useless waiter. This place could use better management and more training for...
Read moreOn my initial visit to Mi Casa Supper Club in B.C., Mexico, I was treated to an experience that set high expectations for future visits. The ambiance was spectacular, with ocean-side views that postcards are made of, and staff attentiveness that made the meal feel special. The cleanliness and inviting nature of the establishment complemented the impressive upstairs outdoor seating, available during the right season, providing an exceptional dining environment.
However, my second visit was starkly disappointing, indicating a slip in standards that can only be attributed to the change in kitchen staff. We were informed upon arrival that the original cooks had departed, and it showed in the quality of our meal. The meat served to us was tough to the point of being inedible, a culinary misstep that was both surprising and unacceptable. Returning whole steaks typically prompts some sort of compensatory gesture, but there was a lack of concern for our dissatisfaction and no compensation offered. This lack of follow-through on quality and customer service greatly undermines the wonderful setting and otherwise friendly staff.
In summary, Mi Casa Supper Club is a paradox - on one hand, it offers an enchanting setting with potentially great service, while on the other, it risks disappointing repeat customers with variable food quality. It may yet reclaim its glory with a stable and skilled kitchen crew, but until then, one's experience may be as unpredictable as the tides it overlooks. Two and a half stars for an establishment at the crossroads of excellence...
Read moreFood (baja-mediterranean) and service was excellent and a decent wine selection. All staff was very friendly. The place from the outside looks ordinary but the interiors are interesting, first floor has a dark bar entrance and then the main area with tall ceiling and long curtains, ornamental mirrors, chandeliers and a mix of victorian style furniture with some regular old decoration. While the terrace on second floor has a completely different style, except for a few decorative greek statues it has a more modern style with a beautiful ocean view. The waiter shared the original owners where a couple from Morocco, and they loved cooking for their neighbors which eventually became a supper club and then the idea for a restaurant resembling their own home. For the prices the place could be better, some chairs look worn and other things seem a bit out of place. Can't say it's expensive but is not cheap either, I would say above the average price range for a place like that in Baja. Dishes average $25-$35 USD and...
