Tacos "El Ruso" — Restaurant in Baja California

A devoted "asada only" taco heaven, with over 30 years in the same street they have witness the changes in the area and for sure will see many more with its loyal clientele, they are among the top "taquerías" in the west side of the city. Since many years ago they focus only on using good ingredients and never compromised the cuts they used to marinade and grill their meat. The main attraction here is the "asada" quesadilla, its big and juicy (a mini-quesadilla is also on the menu), with a good amount of cheese and hand made yellow corn tortillas, the tacos are excellent, guacamole is not water down and the red tomato salsa is just probably their biggest secret for their success. These place is no open late like many other places, as soon as the supply of meat is over (8:30pm - 9:00pm)they are ready to sofocante the charcoal from the grill and go home. It can get pretty crowded during the evening specially with big groups of tourist and locals, I suggest ordering everything you'll eat at once since is not uncommon to wait up to 30 min for your order to be served. The prices here are competitive with other places, the quesadilla is worth the wait...

Poor, poor, poor service!! We went today and they have a new system . You have to add yourself to a list and tell them exactly what you want to eat and how many. We used to love eating there . They don’t have the same people working there . The meat looked over cooked and with a lot of fat. We placed our names in the list and waited 25 minutes, just sitting there waiting to eat!!! If your name was called and you were served , you can continue to ask for more . So that delays the names on the list even longer. We also noticed that other people were being called before us and we were there first. The girl in charge of the list was not keeping up with the list and had a really bad attitude! We told them we were on the list before a few people and hat were called before us and they told us we were lying . We ended up leaving after a 35 minute wait !!! We will not go there...

Less is more. You will only find asada tacos and quesadillas, nothing else. You don't need more in life. They pour love in every little piece of meat, in every tortilla, in every avocado. This is, without any doubt, the finest example of what a taco should look, taste and feel like. It took me 28 years and traveling the whole country to find THE TACO. You won't find better tacos or quesadillas...
