Trenta Quattro Cocina a la leña — Restaurant in Baja California

This review is way overdue! "Trenta Quattro Cocina a la Leña" is by far my favorite place in Rosarito BC/Calafia area! Here's a quick list of factors that make this place wonderfull, and I'll go into detail below: ▪︎Excellent staff ▪︎Saturday & Sunday Live Music. The lead singer with "Tijuana Blues" has one of my favorite voices! (Not just any live band... These are recording- grade-musicians, beautifully playing versatile Jazz, among other many genres) ▪︎Beautiful place to watch the sunset oceanfront. ▪︎Great apps, fantastic pizza & my favorite Turamisú (I aslo love their coffee, which I drink black without any sugar or creamer, and I'm very picky).

For starters I'll say their staff is top-notch. We have been particularly impressed with Miguel, Maria & Rodolfo, whom I believe is a Manager. Their attention to detail allow us to enjoy the full experience that their establishment has to offer. Just to mention one nice thoughtful detail...They lend embroided blankets to their guest, on chilly nights, to ensure confort, in addition to their well situated heaters. They have delicious appetizers, and their pizza is one of my favorite ever. If you appreciate thin crust wood-fire🔥pizza with creative, yet, well though out toppings, absolutely...

The view and ambiance were spectacular. Our server was very kind. We loved the place until our starter arrived.

We ordered a Queso Fundido with mushrooms. After about 20 minutes it arrived. Shortly after, we saw there was a plastic sticker that appeared to have melted into the cheese. We showed our server and he said he would bring a new cheese out. A few minutes later the same cheese arrived with additional mushrooms (trying to hide the fact that it was the same cheese.) At this time the cheese was cold, the additional mushrooms were not cooked, so we asked the server to take it back before even tasting it.

Moments later the manager came to our table and asked us to explain what happened. We explained and he offered to remove the cheese from the bill and replace with another starter or dessert. By this time we had finished dinner so another starter was not an option. However, we agreed to accept a dessert if it was on the house. The manager said he would ask someone as he had intended to sell us a dessert instead. We did not see the manager for the rest of the evening and neither...

I stay quite often at Calafia Condos next door and thought I would give this place a try. Great secure parking, warm and friendly hostess and waiters were very accommodating to myself and two Chihuahuas. It was just after sunset, a little chilly since I was seated outside. Waiters brought over the portable heater without even asking. Everyone was very friendly. The place has a nice positive vibe! I ordered a glass of delicious wine from the Valle de Guadalupe which was a perfect complement to the Arrancherra steak I ordered which was complimented by mashed sweet potatoes and grilled veggies. Food was perfect and VERY delicious, however portion was a bit small. What I love about México is that the hostess always allows you to choose your table, and at the end they never rush you by bringing the check without asking. I felt very comfortable and at home with this restaurant and am looking forward to their pizza next time. I recommend this place and am looking forward...
