A Hidden Gem That Exceeds Every Expectation As someone who has worked in the food and beverage industry for over 20 years, I’ve developed a pretty high bar when it comes to service, atmosphere, and quality—but Lechuza completely blew me away.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. The property is absolutely breathtaking—peaceful, thoughtfully designed, and surrounded by the kind of natural beauty that makes you want to stay for hours. Our server, Rox, was warm, knowledgeable, and truly elevated the entire experience with her passion and hospitality. It’s rare to find someone so genuine and attentive; she made our visit feel personalized and unforgettable.
And then there’s the wine. Every single bottle we tasted was outstanding. Our favorites were the Pluma and Amantes—both stunning in their own ways—but the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay were equally impressive. Each wine is clearly crafted with care and intention, and it shows in the complexity and balance of every sip.
The food was just as memorable. The empanadas were perfectly flaky and flavorful, the french fries were addictively crispy and well-seasoned, and the tacos. Fresh, bold, and beautifully done. It’s the kind of menu that pairs effortlessly with the wines and keeps you lingering at the table just a little longer.
Lechuza is the kind of place that reminds you why you fell in love with wine in the first place. There’s nothing I would change. Whether you’re a seasoned sommelier or just someone who appreciates great wine in a beautiful setting, this place is a must-visit. I can’t...
Read moreThis winery - while beautiful - is right next to a busy road so there is some traffic noise. I’m not calling that a negative because that also makes this is a great choice for, say, folks in Teslas that can’t hack it on the bumpy backroads of Valle.
That being said, Lechuza had some of the most unique wines I’ve tried anywhere. I love the creativity.
We were there in the off-season l, but it was still hopping so reservations were a good idea. It felt like they were unusually short-staffed. The service was decent - not bad by ANY means - but I do suspect it was below their usual standard. We could tell the guy who did our tasting was so busy that he wasn’t able to give the amount of attention he wanted to his tables.
Food was decent, if presented fairly basically.
There are some cute unique gifts inside, and a little coffee corner. It’s...

Pricing for tastings is way out of whack. $400 MXN for 4 very small tastings. For the same price you would get 4 full glasses. You’d think the winery would want you to taste their wine and perhaps have a lifelong customer!
We were told the tasting is expensive because you get an explanation of the wine, but we only were explained 2 of the 4, all of which were subjectively not of our taste.
We’ve done many other tastings in the Valle and in comparison to others, 2 stars is a generous review for Lechuza. Too bad! The reviews were so good but seems like an unfair price for tiny tastings of decent wines in a...
