ASADERO LA HIGUERA — Restaurant in Campeche

I'm with a tour group and we stopped here to stretch our legs, sample the free tequila and maybe buy the famed cheese quesadillas. I love the restaurant interior. Open air design. Nice central bar/drink station that is huge. Clean bathrooms in the rear. Spacious seating area on all four sides of the restaurant. You can wear giant sombreros for pictures if you want. LOL. You can sample free tequila in the back. Excuse me for not noticing today's brand but it was smooth and tasty and enjoyable. I ordered two quesadillas with a Mexican coke (I'm told Mexican coke uses a different sugar and tastes different.). The cheese in the quesadillas is a local cheese similar to mozzarella. Quite nice. Perfect for this snack. Last thing, the grounds around the restaurant include a pool, several trees and shady spots and look like great places to stroll. A pleasant stop over. Service gets 4 stars because I was left to figure out several things on my own such as where to get that coke after I purchased it and when exactly to expect that delicious quesadilla. The cook was a little grouchy. It all worked out. Travel is an education, right?...

I travel by bicycle and ended up staying here after chatting with the owner when we met on the road which was such a fantastic decision! After nearly 15 months travelling in Mexico, here are the best tortillas! I am vegan and the staff were so helpful and attentive to find me options that I’d like (and I loved them!) On top of the food being wonderful, everyone working there are like a loving family, full of energy and smiles and give the most exceptional service. The site itself if beautiful and has a wonderful pool area if you want to chill out (especially as it’s so hot!). Everything is fresh and the attention to detail is exceptional. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough and so hope you get to try it out for yourself! Wonderful experience, I’ll be back, thanks again for everything, especially your kindness! The chipped glass of fresh Orange juice destroyed all the positive mood of this restaurant. I started to looked more careful to the waiters. It looks that they are not washing hands at least I was not able to notice it. Glasses washed by hands. The table was quickly disinfected in front of us. I'm not very sure about the quality of such a quick clean. The cheese dishes were very tasty. All cooking will be quick. It is possible to pay by card. Hand washing is done with a hand tap. Very outdated, but maybe it's part of the image? In general, I was satisfied, but there is a feeling that the quarantine measures here are performed only...
