I've had my share of my meals (breakfast and lunch) in past years at Panama restaurants. Usually expect a wait for a table and if you're group of five or more, expect another wait. Food is good, not the best but good enough. My favorite is their desserts
Panama restaurants are usually busy especially at cathedral location...it's grand central. The desserts "shop" (pastries and cakes) are my favorite and there's lots to choose from. Love their apple pies and jello bowls.
Staff at the pastry shop can use some training in the customer service department. Perhaps start with the basics, "hellos....thank yous." Could be a language barrier but a smile and hello can go a long way. There are a variety of staff that work this area, I can't see why they all come across basic.
If you've never been eaten pastries at Panama, give them a try. There has to be something you like. Also, prices are affordable. You will come out with more than...
Read moreHello all We have been in Mazatlan for about 3 months. We visited the Panama Restaurantes this afternoon around 1:00pm MST. When we first got to Mazatlan we had breakfast at this restaurantes and it was very good. HOWEVER! today we went by for lunch and it was terrible. The food arrived cold and when we sent it back all they did was micro-wave the food. The meal was their version of a club house sandwich with meat. lettuce and tomatoes. I am sure that you can imagine what it tasted like when it arrived. Yuck! the toast was soggy and fell apart and the fries were also very limp. When we expressed our disapproval of the meal their only response was we will tell the kitchen. There was no apology or any concern what so ever. We paid the bill and left. We are very disappointed in the Panama Restaurant chain. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT...

Panama's is a franchise, and the locations where we dined were consistent - menu, seating layout, and service. Back to comparing, Panama's reminds me of Shoney's - once upon a time, it was a popular franchise that no longer operates in the southeastern states. Shoney's with a Hispanic twist - maybe that's what I'm looking for. The food is tasty, and even with limited Spanish, it's not difficult to know what you're ordering. My favorite meal so far at Panama's is desayuno- breakfast! I had two eggs, sunny side up, bacon, a side of frijoles, and two large pancakes, served with lots of coffee. We even ate dessert while waiting for breakfast! Insanity, I know, but the guava cheese pie is...
