The food was delicious no doubt about it. The service however left a lot to be desired. I ordered a beer and had a few sips upon seeing there was a fly in my glass. I thought about taking it out and drinking it but it was a big guy and the place seemed professional and friendly up to this point - so i asked to get it switched for a new one. "No problem" he said and switched it for a new one.
We finished our meal and got the bill and saw the extra beer on the bill. We thought maybe it was a mistake and enquired but the waitor informed us because i had drunk some of the beer we needed to pay. I explained if he had said that before perhaps i would of just taken the fly out and continued to drink it. Either way i should have been informed i would need to pay for a new one before offering to change it for a new one.
He then talked to his manager and came back with the same response so we asoed to speak to the manager. A big gentleman came over and mirrored the waitors response. Finishing by saying "so you won't pay for the beer?" We replied if thats how you want to run your restaurant then charge us. I also explained if we want to nit pick perhaps we should only pay for the 'half' of the beer i drank (it was more less than 1/4).
He reluctantly took the beer off the bill which btw was 60 pesos on a 1001 peso bill. Hardly worth losing business over from where im sitting. The waitor then brought the new bill over which was now 942 pesos,. I left 1000 whilst trying to drcide whether i should tip or not as i wasnt sure how much blame to put on the waitor. He then had the cheek ask me if my tip was coming separately!? I said let me think knowing full well i was not tipping after that crass comment.
Very disappointing end after the kitchen produced lovely food. Wont be...
Read moreGood traditional Chiapaneco food although the menu is limited on selections. Service was great, fast and courteous. Not too overpriced for the clean, open atmosphere and marimba entertainment. Great local interpretations of cocktails using locally produced ingredients. We were there the last 2 hours before closing, which is midnight and the place was just clearing out of some large groups. It's a fairly large dining hall and appears to get quite packed with Mexican and foreign tourists. There's a large dancefloor in the middle of the place immediately in front of the marimba players. Very...
Aproximadamente...
