Wow! We arrived in Palomas an hour before the pink store was going to close and we weren't hungry enough to eat yet so we asked the staff where else we could get good food nearby and they recommended this place. We walked around town for a while and ended up here a few hours later. The restaurant was empty which made me a bit uncomfortable because it's usually not a good sign but I'm SO glad we stayed! I got the Tampiqueno, a combo of steak and shrimp with cheese enchiladas. I had to request corn tortillas on the side (at Mexican restaurants in Chicago these kinds of plates alwa2 come with a side of corn tortillas) and they were happy to accomodate my request at no extra charge. My boyfriend got Tacos al Pastor. My dish came with a side of guacamole. It was a lot of food! Hands down the best enchiladas I have ever had, and just the best Mexican food I've had in a very long time! We got Micheladas which can be very awful when not done right, but these were really yum! We got them with Sol beer but they would have been great with Corona or Pacifica as well. I loved the food so much that we took the leftovers across the border and 2 hrs back home because I just couldn't leave such delicious food behind! Everything was fresh, the salsa was incredible that they served with chips when we sat down. The green is less spicy and we ordered two to slather on our food. The red was great too but a little spicier (a little too much for me). The menu there is extensive and includes a lot of seafood which is a nice option. My shrimp was delicious and tasted fresh. I can't speak for the pink store which seems like the default for those crossing into Palomas for a quick trip, but if you want a different option, I'd...
Read moreThis place is HIt and Miss. I have now been here a few times and the service/food is hit and miss. First time I went over I had the Shrimp Cocktail It was delicious. The second time I went I also had the Shrimp Cocktail, The Clamato was watered down so bad you could barely taste it. Very dissapointed so I was hesitant to go again a third time. We did only to wait for our food much longer than it should have taken, given, there was only three tables with customers there. One of the Employees started mopping the floor next to us with Fabuloso. VERY STRONG ODOR OF FABULOSO, I lost my appetite and kinda grossed out a bit. They should mop areas that are free of customers not stink up the place while you are trying to eat. Its hard to taste your food when all you can smell is Fabuloso. Went to both Sinaloense restaurants on a Sunday at around 11 am. They were both out of Menudo. Come to think of it. This place is not hit and miss. I have had 3 our 4 bad experiences... Not sure if we will go back. I have heard the Menudo is very good here so we might try this again sometime.. (will definately show up...
Read moreA nice true Mexican restaurant. This one is not Americanized like the Pink Store, so be prepared for a bit of a communication barrier if you speak no spanish. The classic point & poke maneuver works well on the menu, which does list the dishes in English. The staff are very friendly, and the prices are unbelievably low. For example, 2 of us order meals, 2 or 3 beers each, and the total is usually around $17. The food is delicious! I have had nothing there that wasn't excellent. I recommend for a first timer El Combonacion #1 for a taste of Mexico. 2 tacos, 1 enchilada, and 1 chile rellano, with red or green sauce. They also carry hamburgers and a few other things for people who are not...
