First time going here.
They have a valet service, so just pull in, surrender your car keys, get your ticket and go in. You are expected to tip the valet 1 or 2 dollars.
Going into it you will be greeted and seated. The place is very nice and clean. And busy! On your right you will see an open area where the kitchen is. The cooks are very busy receiving orders and preparing breakfast, including fresh tortillas. The ingredients, well stocked and fresh, are visible through a plexiglass screen. There is a separate station where they are making fruit and vegetable juices, and another station for coffee and silverware. The kitchen and stations are open so you can see the staff working, though they're not accessible to customers. It's a nice touch, everything looks very clean and well kept.
They have wooden tables and chairs. Right after you get seated and your drinks order taken, they come back with a fruit serving and a sweet bread basket. Very nice touch. The menu is interesting. Aside of the normal breakfast items they have other interesting items and combinations. Several items look interesting. I ordered a "Delicias de Chihuahua", which is huevos rancheros without tortilla and chile en rajas.
The order took a while to come. Understandable, because as I said before the place was busy. I finished my fruit serving, ran out of coffee and was in the second piece of bread when my meal came.
There was some confusion because I thought I had ordered something different, but it was my mistake. I mentioned I thought I had something with queso coming in. The waiter said no problem! And got me a side of rajas con queso. Very nice people.
My dish and the rajas side were very good and tasty. Just made warm tortillas, very good as well. Very good experience that made me want to come back for more of that kitchen. The only lacking was the bread, it was rather bland in taste.
Then the check came. Average pricing. I expected, for the level of service, to be more expensive. Not the case, they absolutely want you back.
So other than waiting a little longer than usual for your food and maybe having to wait to get seated, which is completely understandable, this place is a very nice spot to get great food. Highly...
Read moreThe food is OK for the price. We weren't a fond of what we ordered, maybe if we tried some other plates. To start off, we received Pan Dulce as an appetizer on the house, the pan was nice to have for the kids. We ordered a plate of chicharron prensado to share, that was the only thing that we fully enjoyed, do recommend, it came with a side of salsa and flour tortillas, we devoured it. For the main dishes, we had caldo de res (which was recommended by the waiter), chilaquiles montados with streak, pancakes, and egg with ham and potatoes. The caldo was a disappointment, i had never had a caldo that I didn't like, to start it was cold, it had huge chunks of bones, little meat, and almost no veggies, the flavor was not there at all, the rice it came with had no flavor as well, it was just white rice with carrots. The chilaquiles were half and half, the green ones tasted very sour, and the red ones tasted more like entomatadas (made of tomato). The kids' plates weren't bad, just a little bland, the potatoes were not seasoned at all, the egg was ok. The pancakes were surprisingly good, they ate not full size pancakes, you get 4 minis, which it's a good portion for 2 kids. Host and waiters need to be a little bit...
Read moreRecently went here for breakfast on a Saturday on a friend's recommendation and had a bad experience. The place was jam-packed and that might have affected the quality of service, still, that's not an excuse. It took about 40 minutes from the time we were seated to get our food. The pan dulce was stale and the cafe de olla just lukewarm. When we finally got our food, everything was cold! I was really excited and hopeful to try the green chilaquiles with eggs, but was very disappointed. The green sauce was very sour (tomatillos that weren't cooked enough) and it had no seasoning. The beans were hard and bland and my egg yolks overcooked. It was hard to get a waiter's attention to get a coffee refill and we attempted to get our check for over 30 minutes. We seriously thought of walking out, we had to practically beg them to...
