Restaurante La Gran Vía — Restaurant in Colonia Moderna

The place is beautiful and the food is great. The one thing that disappointed us was the subtle negligence of the master server. Leaving this feedback here for the offense we suffered. It’s possible the gentlemen’s is hard of hearing?

The master server did the following.

We only had one napkin. The master server came by. We requested a new one. He walked off and one was never delivered. We had to ask somebody else passing by. I asked for a recommendation. He recommended the most expensive thing in the menu. He pulled a plate I was still eating off of. He scoffed at my companion’s question about an espresso drink having sugar. We ordered too much. And asked for the rest to go. He pulled it. Later we asked for it. They searched for it. It was gone. When he took it I jokingly said to myself that’s the last we’ll see of that. There was no offer to remedy the situation. We wouldn’t have accepted one but it’s the thought that counts.

I can not say anything good about the food. The Caesar salad was absolutely flavorless. I've had better dressing out of a bottle. the soup was not to my liking. the paella was horrible with very dry fish. Like it had been sitting around for a day and with one small shrimp, one small clam, and a flavorless rice. Absolutely no saffron whatsoever. I've had better paella out of a package. Llegamos y la entrada tiene escaleras pero NO rampa llevábamos una carreola y tuvimos que cargarla, qué pasa con las personas que llegan en silla de ruedas? Los baños de mujeres no tienen estación cambiadora de pañales, tuve que cambiar a mi bebé es una esquina del baño ¿Entonces no se le debe considerar restaurante familiar? Pedí la crema de langosta y estaba horrible un atole salado con sabor a polvo de pescado. Luego pedí tortilla española, como es parte de las especialidades del lugar supuse que estaría deliciosa y supuse mal. Me llevaron un masacote de papas con huevo seco y sin sal, ni cebollas caramelizadas ¿Sí sabran qué es una tortilla española? Otro de los comensales pidió pescado a la vizcaína y el pescado estaba seco, aglutinando y sin sazonar. El arroz de guarnición sabía más a curry que a azahafrán. En general toda la comida era seca, grasosa y sobrecondimentada o por el contrario sin nada de sal. Al principio de la comida te retacan de pan por cierto la canasta que nos llevaron tenía cabellos. ¿Por qué querrías retacar a tus comensales con pan? Si la idea es que tengan suficiente apetito para entrada, plato fuerte y postre? Nos sirvieron aceitunas que nos presumieron son hechas en casa, las aceitunas estaban asquerosas, amargas y demasiado saladas, ¿Qué no saben hacer correctamente una salmuera? Mi impresión es que NO sólo NO nos sirvieron comida española deliciosa, no saben qué es la comida española y no hacen comida deliciosa en general. Quedé muy decepcionada, esperaba mucho de este restaurante por lo que cobran!!! No se lo recomendaría a nadie. Nota para los dueños: manden a su chef de regreso a la escuela de...
