La Marina — Restaurant in Ensenada

It was a nice place, cute patio, until they had a killing in 2023 by cartel members of an employee related to the GM. According to residents of Baja Beach Cove next door it happen in front of customers. It was also in the local newspaper. They place was closed for some time but when we went back in 2024 the staff had changed, no one spoke English, and we ordered a pizza that got us sick the next day. Never go here. There are better places nearby. Cartel takeover is shameless. A letter was shared with us by a local resident from Jorge indicating the cartels had taken this place over. The tenants sharing this information with us indicated to us they don't eat here at La Marina and they were moving out from this place because of discrimination against Americans and they raised the rents; most of these rentals they say are failing part due to termites and lack of maintenance. This place is located in what it seems to me a a white colony. There is a security guard at the gate, who allows access to the restaurant. The restaurant is big and clean, no air conditioner. Pool tables and darts 🎯 to keep you entertained, very nice. Service, wasn't that good, it might be cause I only saw two girls running the place. We ordered wings, nothing special. Our drinks had the minimum amount of alcohol and one of our mojitos tasted like water from the faucet, We are if they could make us another one and the waiter replied with " we could add more sugar " 🧐🧐 The environment is very pleasant with live singers and the outside is just phenomenal and peaceful. This fantastic destination is where tourists need to go so they can see the exquisite beauty of the Baja experience. La Marina reminds me of the fishing sheds that died at the landscape when I was a child in Alaska. You could get serviceable food at possible prices. But you weren't there for the cuisine, you were there for the experience of the destination, which is world class. Go with high expectations about fine fare. That you can get a burger and you can get a veggie wrap, chili cheese, fries, and a bunch of other things. The veggie wrap was perfectly fine. And when I'm back in town, I promise I'll visit again. They rent houses at this location, so get the free tour and look around, good luck...
