Our group of four from Birmingham, AL had an exceptional experience with Hernandez Tours (Daniel Hernandez, not to be confused with another Hernandez Tours in the area so double check) while visiting San Miguel. From start to finish, their service was professional and reliable, which is what you want from a transfer service.
We booked round-trip airport transfers on two separate days, a full-day winery tour with an hourly driver, and a transfer between our hotel and Airbnb. Each time, the drivers arrived exactly on time, which was incredibly impressive. We’ve used similar services in the U.S. that weren’t nearly as punctual or dependable.
The vehicles were spacious, air-conditioned vans that easily fit all of our luggage, including checked bags. The drivers were professional and safe, helping us navigate the area with ease. Some in our group spoke Spanish while others did not, and the drivers ensured we always got to the right place without any confusion.
Our winery tour day was a highlight – we had a seamless experience traveling between wineries (which we booked on our own although the tour company can book for you as well as I understand, enjoying a wine pairing lunch at one and a tasting/tour at another. Throughout, we appreciated the bottled water provided in the van.
The pricing was the best we found—cheaper than booking through a hotel and even a bit better than the Airbnb options. Given the level of service, we wouldn’t book with anyone else when...
Read moreHello… I have never before written a review, especially a food review! After a long year and even longer New Year’s, (1all good) I felt the need to take myself to one of my favorite bistros for lunch and wine. And today was extraordinary, salmon to perfection… extremely crispy skin & perfectly pink. The sauce was light and flavorful with capers, with the asparagus offering the exact complementary sweetness needed/wanted! Oh and the Chardonnay… yes, was just right. The best part was simply being allowed to sit and enjoy. I am so grateful for this lovely café, its scrumptious menu, kind staff & articulate competent chefs. I’m not sure if this is something you want in your life but… if maybe… yes… I hope you may enjoy the experience of this fabulous bistro and it’s lovely heart. … as I stated I don’t write reviews, not ever… yet my recommendation would be to come with an open mind, simplified human expectations and then… deeply...
Read moreWe had high hopes for El Vergel, but came away somewhat disappointed. Ambiance is reasonably attractive but nothing special with no real views from the sunken outdoor space. Service is friendly, but quite slow when we were there even though it wasn't busy. Food was only ok. I had a fairly typical French onion soup, and my wife had the roasted beet salad, which she thought surprisingly bland. Three of us had the fillet mignon stroganoff with linguini and mushrooms. Reaction was mixed... I thought it was tasty, but the other two were disappointed by the quality of the fillet. My wife ordered the linguini in white wine sauce with shrimp and calamari. After a few tastes, she put down her fork in disgust, complaining about the flavourless, watery sauce and the paucity of seafood. Our friends had been there before and were surprised about the quality of the food this time around. Perhaps it was just a bad day, but none of us are...
