It is tradition to have a Cantarito on the way to Tequila. A CANTARITO is a delicious citrus based tequila cocktail served in a earth clay pot, that are made to take home. Trust me you'll want to keep this and drink water from it once you get home. Its fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, lime juice, salt and grapefruit soda and a little salt, not around the rim just salt.
This was the third location we visited on the road to Tequila. I had a local a tall handsome man with me so it was easy to navigate the line, It can be very intimidating to order here, the place is packed with families and friends lots of natives and everyone seems to be having a great time. It completely felt like Mexico to me. I could just sit here in a corner and people watch.
The ordering process is a bit confusing so this is what I learned.
Get in line where you order and pay, while your friend stands in the other line where you have to order again :). There are small medium and large. The large is really large and the medium is large and the small is still large. We ordered the small. I was surprised to see that there was no REPOSADO. Reposado is the best type of tequila as it has no added sugars or funny stuff. Did i already say its always super busy?
Once you get your drink you can either take it with you, of course if you are driving please don't even think about drinking and driving, it is illegal and you will be penalized to the fullest extent of the law. But if you have a driver you can take it with you.
The place does have a bit of flies so that can be annoying so I decided not to indulge in any of the food, the locals dont seem to mind all that much.
Overall I would come back to this location if I ever want to get wild, its a better place for groups rather than couples. There are few more low key places on the road to Tequila that I preferred because we were traveling as a couple and it was a bit more intimate.
If you are ever in this part of Mexico make sure you stop in and have a look and...

Read moreFirst of all what a tourist trap. We had to go here because it was included in our tour.. This place is full of people who likes to drink a lot and film themselves to be kind of "popular"? There were 7 mariachi bands playing at the same time and we had 7 different type of songs playing, awful. Everybody was begging for money even if they didn't play for you. We had some taco's there, and I love taco's. The taco's were fresh made, so that's why I give this place a 2 star rating.
How could this restaurant improve? First of all, hire some mariachi instead of let every mariachi band play at the same time, this isn't fun.. Also the women at the counter didn't smile, is the work not fun for them? Are they hoping for more ? What's the issue of not smiling to tourists? If you don't like tourist, that's what it looked like because to Mexican people they were all laughing. And that's not because I can't speak Spanish, because I do, so what's the point ? The people who were making the taco's were super friendly!
Won't...
