LOOKING for delicious European food in a delightful ecological setting? Look no farther than Gigi’s, which is literally located in the middle of the forest. The entrance has such a rustic look to it that at first you might wonder if the trip was worth it. But it definitely will be. A delightful outdoor eating experience awaits you. My wife had the penne chicken pesto and it was spot on. I tried the salmon with bacon and slivered almonds, which was delectable. I didn’t have the best experience here. I think they were having an off day and were understaffed because most tables were complaining about the same things. It took an hour to bring out our two starters and another hour after that to bring our mains. We had lost our appetite by then. The staff was always nice and cordial, but I feel the kitchen was very slow and backed up. The fig with goats cheese and ham was delicious. The corn cream was more of a soup and a little bland. Gigi’s is definitely one of a kind, a culinary gem tucked into the forest, it’s is well worth the short drive from Mazamitla. Their signature rustic bread is addictive and served with every meal.
