If you are in Tecolotlan, you need to pump on your breaks!! and make El Pez Gordo one your stops. I am from California and heard of El Pez Gordo 3 years ago. Finally i took a trip to visit my family in a small town nearby.
It was the evening of 08/03/2023 when my Culinary journey began. I have to say El pez Gordo is truly a hidden gem. I order the rib eye steak, it came with a jalapeño emulsion roasted veggies and baked potato with a herb crema. The quality of the meat and ingredients, were of superior quality. My guest orderd a pull pork burger, and a beef burger they were also impressed. The beef burger looked appetizing, I decided to take one home for later. The burger came with Coleslaw pickles, mushrooms, caramelized onion and manchego cheese and chimichurry. I have to say one of the best burgers I've had, and I've had a lot of burgers.
The ambiance was clean. Outdoor seating. The service was great, the server, and a gentlemen named Jonathan Lopez answered all my questions. They were professional and friendly. The Chef is extremely talented and, has a great thing going here. I definitely recommend El Pez Gordo and cannot wait to go back...
Read moreWe were excited my husband and I to have found a place like The Pez Gordo in Teco. The ambiance was good. The service was good. The presentation of the food was great. In my humble opinion, the food in genersl needed more "sazón". I had the Taco 'chino de pancheta which was described as being cooked for 20 hours but was not, the pancheta was on the chewy side, the shrimps were good and the sauce was good. I also ordered the shrimp in aguachiles Again the presentation was good, the shrimps were as expected but could be better in taste, the aguachiles were bathed in the lemon and made the tostada soft. My husband's shrimp's cocktail was desapointing to him; it was more a shrimp soup. I am hoping this review is an opportunity for improvement, not as a negative feedback. I look foward to try the food again because we always are pleased to see a chef...
