Los Mariscos de Chichí offers flavorful, well-prepared seafood dishes with generous portions that are sure to satisfy. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, and consistent in quality across multiple visits. The restaurant also provides the convenience of on-site parking and valet service, which is a plus in this busy area.
The atmosphere is pleasant and the space is nicely decorated, though it can feel a bit crowded during peak hours. Service is generally acceptable, although not exceptional.
That said, one major drawback is the pricing. The meals are quite expensive, and more concerning is the way tipping is handled. On several occasions, I’ve experienced staff strongly suggesting tips of 30–40%, even declaring this as the “minimum” expected. For a bill of $400 USD, being pressured to leave a $120 tip is simply unreasonable. This practice left a very negative impression, especially given that in Mexico, a recent consumer protection law has clarified that tips are voluntary and should never be forced or implied as mandatory.
Another point to consider is that while the restaurant does accept U.S. dollars, they apply an exchange rate significantly lower than the official rate, which affects the final value of your payment if you’re not paying in pesos.
Overall, while the food at Los Mariscos de Chichí is excellent and the ambiance is nice, the aggressive tipping expectations and unfair exchange rate policy take away from the overall experience. I would still recommend the restaurant for its cuisine, but with caution and awareness regarding payment and...
Read moreLos mariscos the chichí is a good restaurant, definitely one of the best restaurant to eat seafood and enjoy the flavors of the sea, i went last week with my family. I really enjoy the attention of the waiters. The have a very varied menu. Their selection of desserts it is very extensive and with affordable price. Natural drinks are very delicious and refreshing, in special the cucumber limonade. My favorite food is grilled octopus because it has a special flavor. I really enjoy coming to this place with my family and friends. I will go...
Read moreAbsolutely overpriced and the food isn’t even that good. Ordered a rum orchata colada and there was a very faint whiff of rum - It was more like an orchata and zero rum in it.
As for the bites, I’ve ordered just a plate of appetizer (coconut shrimp) and the waiter upsells the crab legs. Silly me decided to get a small one with the promise that it would not be expensive since it was a small leg, instead of the giant one they previously offered. Much to my surprise, when they bring the bill, I’m charged with USD 145 for just a plate of a very unremarkable appetizer, a small crab leg and the barely alcoholic rum orchata colada.
A total rip-off and I do not recommend this place to...
