El Traspatio Restaurante — Restaurant in Nuevo León

This is a special place to go for a meal. The food is fresh and well cooked. I would say that for a meal you will pay nearer to 450- 500 pesos for a meal when you include drinks and more than one course. I gave it 3 stars rather than 4 because when we arrived we waited and no one came to show us to a table, then suddenly a waiter appeared and showed us a table. Then we seemed to be forgotten for a while and another waiter gave us a menu. The table next to us who arrived after, got their order taken before us, then another waiter came and took our order.

When we got the bill we noticed they charged 40 pesos for a shot of lemon juice to put with the pretty pricey mineral water (50 pesos each) therefore a mineral water (topo chico plus a shot of lemon is 90 pesos)

We commented to the waiter about the charge for the lemon shot. We have experience of many restaurants where we take clients and no charge is made for the lemon. The waiter acknowledged our comment on this. HOWEVER on my colleague mentioning it to the duty manager, she got all defensive and said that many places charge for lemon juice shots to go with soft drinks. We LOOOOVED this restaurant!! I very rarely write reviews however had to give this one a 5 start because we were so pleasantly surprised. (1) the FOOD! My wife and I were pleasantly surprised. We have been to places with good reviews and often leave wondering why? Not here. EVERYTHING we had was great - the house salad, the tacos goberandor (?), shrimp Alfredo, the desserts! Even the fruit waters were surprisingly good! (2) Polo, the owner, is an amazing guy. Very warm and helpful and his staff are the same. They all help one another which was cool to see. (3) the restaurant itself is beautiful. It was a house that was converted a few years ago. Very nice layout and the indoor & outdoor sitting was great. We were only in town for a few days more when we found it and it was so good - we went back the next day. I got the ribs and mashed potatoes (🤤) and my wife had the salmon. The place ambiance is great. That's it. Food is below average in flavor, but highly priced. Service is not really professional. Unfortunately despite willingness to serve, people is not properly trained. Therefore the service you receive is very poor. We waited more than an hour to get 4 very simple dishes and again, not with the best taste nor quality. When you arrive and see the place it generates big expectations.
