This place is a gem! I stumbled upon this restaurant during a last minute trip to my hometown. The place is so distinct and their food is absolutely mouthwatering and delectable! Chef and owner Yago, was extremely helpful and so friendly, he took the time to visit every table and would often come back and check on everyone. He gave us a tour of his beautiful establishment and provided us the history of how the concept came to him. The restaurant offers chefs specials as well as an elaborate menu from four regions of Mexico, including Cuidad de Mexico, Puebla, Oaxaca and Veracruz. The chef shared that the cooks come from the regions and specialize in the dishes from their regions. They also bring all of their Ingredients from the region specific to the dish. Believe me! You can definitely taste it!
For our dinning experience - We tried a variations of artisan waters and mezcales. For our appetizer we opted for the traditional guacamole and blue corn tortilla quesadillas with Oaxaca cheese, this could have been a meal in itself. They were 4 large perfectly tasting quesadillas. For our meals we tried the mole pipián with rice and their tamales. The food was full of flavor, cooked perfectly and to the best temperature. Every bite was complete bliss!
I highly recommend Equipales, we will be frequent visitors when in town and we are looking forward to...
Read moreWonderful experience. I heard about this place, but it was beyond my expectations. The place is very unique, since you get to the restaurant ( you have to ring a bell to let you in) you know something special is going to happen. Very attentive service, the chef and owner is very charismatic. I highly recommend to follow their suggestions for entrees, main dishes and spirits. We tried the mezcal Cenizo, it was beautiful, soft and aromatic. The quesillo was fantastic, one of them is smoked by the chef, it is a truly gem. As main dishes we tried enchiladas with a variety of moles, and the equipales beef, both were splendid . One of the greatest things is normally someone can describe Mexican food as hot or spicy, which could be a nightmare for sensitive stomachs. But, this is not the case, food is very flavored and tasty, but it goes easy with your belly. Amazing. Highly recommend, don’t miss it. It’s one of those places that you remember with a smile...
