Los Toreados del Álamo — Restaurant in Nuevo León

The good thing about this restaurant was the service, very friendly and picturesque, we went on Nov 2 "the day of the dead celebration" and there were even some customers dressed up as catrinas!! But the bad, very bad part was the food. We had some traditional dishes, starting with flambe cheese (queso flameado) the flavour was bitter and when we tried to grab it, it went thru the fork like water, is like when you put lime or lemon into mayonaise it gets curdled, it was just nasty!!! And then came the entres.... I had something like beef stew (caldo de res) the flavor was ok but I had to throw away the peace of beef because it was like a big piece of gum with lard veins in between, it was bad!!!! My kids had hot cakes, i guess they were ok, but usually they finish their plate and ask for more, not this time, they ate, but they didn't finish them!! But one more person in my group had the very tipical machacado con huevo (something like eggs with beef jerky mixed) around this places you can't go wrong with that dish, but the person who had it said it was VERY bad, that it tasted like it was made with beef that had already been used for something else, he left his whole plate intact!! To be fair, two other people in the group liked their food, one had the stew like I did but small size and with no beef, an the other had chorizo con huevo (eggs with flavoured pork meat), and they both said it was ok. I only tried the stew which was my order and I liked the flavour but not the meat, and I also tried the cheese which was BAD!!!! We used to come here all the time, but then they suddenly hiked up the prices, so we stopped. Now we said, lets give it a try, prices were normal for a tourist restaurant but the food was bad, I don't think we'll be returning...

It's rare to give a place 5 stars because there's always something. The morning mu Family and I ate here, there was no issue. To start off, 3 types of salsa and chips. Second they bring a gordita and some good tasting beans. Then they bring your food. So for those with a big appetite, this is your place. Portion of food to price is great. Oh and if your dish comes with tortillas...you'll def going to need a big belly. My mother ordered tacos and we thought they were burritos, hehe. No but the tacos are excellent size. Needless to say we took our food home because we just couldn't finish it. Another family member ordered chilaquiles Mireya, and he said it was the tastiest food he had tasted here in Nuevo Leon. He said he couldn't stop eating because the taste was tingling his tongue. He wanted to stop but said he just wanted to keep eating. It sounds like an exaggeration but it's not. His words. We also took what he didn't finish home. Later that day we finished at home what we didnt finish at this awesome spot. Un Amigo me pregunto, a donde llevarías a comer a una persona con la que quieres presumir de la comida regional de nuevo león? Sin dudarlo sería a "LOS TOREADOS DEL ALAMO" !!! El recibimiento ea de primera, te sientan y posteriormente antes de pedir te traen una exquisita gorrita de manteca, además de más de 5 salas distintas, la verde tatemada, la roja de piquin, la verde cremosa y dos de chile colorado una tipo tlaqiepaque y la otra con chile Morita, además de sus respectivos totopos frescos en una bolsa sellada!!! Si llegas en la mañana todos los desayunos y los tacos son una verdadera delicia de mis preferidos es taco de huevo montado a la Mireya y a los toreados, en una tortilla grande recién preparada. Y ni qué decir de la especialidad de la casa el asado además de mollejitas en salsa verde y todo lo que se te ocurra como el menudo, y demás cosas del menú no te decepcionara!! Por más que he buscado en la zona no hay ningún restaurante que se le asemeje en el sabor y la variedad súper recomendado!! Y además se esfuerzan por tener un ambiente agradable tienen Aires por todos lados y siempre estás agusto, además el dueño siempre está supervisando que estés cómodo Y bien atendido. Si eso no es suficiente? No te preocupes la comida es abundante y siempre con un toque norestense de primera!! Además en los mariscos tienen un toque que nunca había probado en otro lado muy sabrosos super recomendado yo paso...
