Excellent tlayudas and generous tostadas. The salsas never disappoint! Since most reviews are in Spanish i will mention what these 't' words refer to. 'Tostada' and 'tlayuda' are names for corn tortillas that have been cooked thoroughly on a comal and left to cool so they keep indefinitely. That's not all you're getting, though, if you order a prepared one. The tostada comes open-faced, a crispy thing topped with lettuce and beans and crumbly or string cheese, served at room temperature. The tlayuda is a different texture as it is either lightly moistened with water or smeared with pork fat ('asiento') before being loaded, folded, and grilled over coals. This results in a much chewier texture and this toughness is the reason that Oaxaqueños describe a tough, wiry human body as 'tlayudo'. The filling follows the same familiar pattern as the tostada. It can be 'sencilla' if you just want the bean paste, lettuce, and cheese, or you can pay more for one of the meat options. I will add that although i enjoy sweet things, i like to taste my coffee with no cream or sugar, so i was pleased to discover that their café de olla arrived unsweetened. As the people here begin to address the widespread obesity we may find unsweetened coffee more often, but as of now it's quite rare at eateries like this frequented mainly by locals. The server went to turn on the TV on the wall when we were seated, and since we were the only clients on an unseasonably rainy night i didn't hesitate to ask that it remain off. The lady smiled and obliged. ¡Thank you Doña Male!

Muy ricas las tlayudas, recomiendo las de tasajo o chorizo, son estilo vallista, con la carne afuera, buenas las salsas y los acompañamientos.

Don’t come eat here. Came in asking if they had some tostadas for 4 people they said yes. Sat us in the 2nd floor. We got beer and ordered basic beef tostadas. 40 mins later we ask where is our food and they tell us we have no more tostadas. Like why waste our time. Bathroom isn’t clean. Service is horrible and they aren’t nice. DO NOT COME EAT HERE. If I can give zero stars I would. And this was my grandpas favorite place to eat on day...
