Hacienda Barbacoa de Hoyo Don Lole — Restaurant in Querétaro

Barbacoa Don Lole is definitely one of the top spots for barbacoa in Querétaro, though maybe not the absolute best. What sets this place apart is the overall experience. Located in a beautiful hacienda 🏡, the atmosphere is truly impressive 😍. They’re only open on weekends, and I highly recommend arriving between 9 and 11 am ⏰ to avoid the crowds.

The experience here goes beyond just the food. They have live music 🎶 that adds to the ambiance, and the tortillas are handmade on the spot 🌮, along with a variety of salsas 🌶️. You can even check out the "hoyo" where they cook the meat 🔥—an interesting touch that adds to the authenticity.

A nice touch for religious visitors is the small chapel (capilla) on the premises ⛪, adding a special element to the setting.

For drinks, they offer "cantaritos" 🍹, which are popular in Guadalajara and made with tequila, as well as traditional "pulque" 🍶. There’s also a kids’ zone 🛝, making it a family-friendly spot. The service is excellent 😊, which is always a plus.

As for the food, while the barbacoa is very good, the prices are on the higher side 💰. However, considering the entire experience, from the setting to the service, it’s a fair deal. Lugar sobre valorado, la verdad es que nos trajo un amigo prometiéndonos una noo experiencia inolvidable y vaya que lo fue jaja Espwramos para entrar al lugar muuuucho tiempo, como éramos mesa grande todos pasaban antes que nosotros sin explicación alguna, es lugar es inmenso por lo que uno pensaría que tienen experiencia con el acomodo de mesas pero NO. Aún no entrábamos pero ya nos solicitaban decir cuánta barbacoa podemos asegurar que consumiremos por qué está pro terminarse y la cantidad que digamos debe ser pagada, ya no había la mitad de la carta… cuando al fin logramos pasar tardaron horas en atendernos, el mesero actuando frenéticamente, nos dice que todo lo que nos dijeron que ya no había si hay pero que lo que sí había no hay jajaja de locos! La comida tardó en llegar y fría, sin tortillas, incompleto. También pedimos un cantarito (que según son famosos por ello), tardaron horas en traerlo, sin jarritos. El personal atareado y poco amable en todo momento peor en especial al terminar de comer y cuando el lugar se despejó un poco solicitamos un cambio de mesa nos exigieron pagar esta cuenta de 5k para hacernos el cambio, aún teníamos algunos alimentos y cántaros, pagamos nos cambiaron y al cambiarnos nos dijeron que teníamos que ordenar algo en esa área o no podíamos estar (no había ya nadie esperando, la mayoría de las mesas estaban vacías) nos aventaron las cosas en una mesa de al lado y un mesero de manera hostil y grosera nos dijo que si esas cosas eran nuestras… terrible, evítense la ida hay lugares mucho más ricos, bonitos y con buena atención. Está Hacienda nada del otro mundo, no vale la pena la vuelta si desde que llegas hay que hacer una fila con un montón de hostess que se ve odian su trabajo y...

Great place way out of the way and though it is meat themed was able to get vegetarian and vegan options. Get the sopes without cheese or the fabulous guacamole - best so far in the region. Can make a meal out of from the table options that they provide. Best horchata as well! The only reason I gave less on the atmosphere was because of the too loud signing so very hard to hear each other...
