Ruinas, located within the Puerta del Lobo Vineyard, is a gem just 40 minutes from downtown Querétaro 🍇. This spot is perfect for a day trip with friends or family, offering a memorable brunch or lunch experience. Due to its popularity, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, as it tends to get crowded 🕒.
The vineyard itself is stunning, and there’s plenty to do beyond just dining. They offer tours of the vineyard, which are worth checking out, especially if you time your visit during the grape harvest season. Be sure to ask about the availability of tours in advance, as they also offer tailored packages 📦. There’s also a dedicated kids' zone, which is a major highlight—it's spacious, with plenty of activities and nannies on hand to watch over the little ones 🧒🎨.
To start your meal, you can ask for a cheese table 🧀—a perfect way to open up your appetite and enjoy some of the local flavors before diving into the main courses.
As for the dining experience, it’s all about sharing and savoring a variety of dishes 🍽️. For starters, we tried the tostadas arrieras with cecina, sopes con chapulines, and tacos de lechón. The tostadas were the standout here—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced 🌟. The other starters were also excellent and offered a great introduction to the meal.
For the main course, we went with the cordero rack, robalo ahumado, and octopus. The octopus stole the show 🐙—tender, smoky, and absolutely delicious. The portions are generous, especially considering the quality, and the pricing is fair for what you get.
Pairing your meal with a bottle of wine from the vineyard is a must 🍷. The selection is impressive, and it’s a great way to enhance the flavors of your meal while enjoying the serene surroundings.
The atmosphere at Ruinas is top-notch, with rustic charm and elegant touches that make it a special place to dine. The only downside might be the parking, as the area can get a bit tight during busy times 🚗. However, the overall experience more than makes up for any minor inconveniences.

It was a little off-putting. Overall the food was really good- the mushroom soup was delicious. Ingredients were fresh and the desserts were decent as well. Hoping to try...
