My visit to El Abuelo left me with a somewhat mixed impression. The food was decent, but I wouldn't say there was anything particularly exceptional about it. The same can be said for the service, which, while satisfactory, didn't stand out in any significant way. What truly sets El Abuelo apart, however, is the remarkable view it offers. The fact that the restaurant provides direct access to the lake and allows patrons to take a swim while waiting for their food is undeniably a unique and cool feature. The opportunity to enjoy a meal with such a stunning natural backdrop and the ability to take a refreshing dip in the lake is a significant selling point for this establishment. In summary, while the food and service at El Abuelo may not be extraordinary, the one-of-a-kind experience of dining with a breathtaking view and the added bonus of swimming in the lake while waiting for your meal make it a worthwhile visit. If you're looking for a dining experience that combines nature and cuisine, this is certainly a place to consider.

Come for the view and you won't be disappointed. This is a beautiful place located in a prime spot on the gorgeous lagoon. The service was friendly but slow and not very attentive. The music was great and my waiter was singing along which was pretty amusing. I had the aguachile to eat and honestly it was not very good compared to all the other delicious seafood restaurants in the area. The cocktails were tasty but weak. All in all, I would definitely come back to this place.

Fresh French fries right on the water. Wish I’d taken a pic of the fries but we inhaled them too fast. Gorgeous location right on the lagoon. Fast friendly service. Biggest pile of hot fries ever. We paddled kayaks from across the lagoon. Abuelo has convenient steps up to their dock.

Nice location, good views of the lagoon, friendly staff. But the quality of the food was seriously lacking. The octopus civiche and very mushy, and the fish filet had to be sent back to be cooked again, but even when they brought us a new one, we realized it was the fish it's self that was terrible. The tortilla chips were very extremely oily even for Mexican cantina standards. Overall, a lot to love about this place, but the food isn't one of them. Go have a beer, have a swim, and...
