A beautiful spot close to the more famous rapidos , and more cheap , is a part very calm of lagoon but you can also reach the currents by kayak (they rent it) , there isn’t too much tourists actually I was at the begging the only one is very a piece of authentic Mexican life you can love or hate but is it, they are noisy but very nice and happy they have a lot of food and can listen the own music , in the bar sell some just in the weekend so bring with you some (not like I did , I had just water so I have to move to the rapidos to eat and drink some) you can have shadow and a table with chairs if you pay something more , you can swim or just relax in pier or have fun in the swings but believe me is absolutely a heaven if you ll come in the morning by yourself!

Amazing place! We got there with a collectivo (60 pesos per person) and walked the last km from the highway. We arrived at 10:30 and were the first ones there! They have lots of picnic tables where you can leave all your stuff. Before taking the collectivo we bought some food at the supermarket as lunch. The entrance fee is 80 pesos per person but 400% worth it! We rented a kayak in the afternoon for 250 pesos per hour to got check out Los Rapidos. The quick visist confirmed we made the good decision to go to Laguna Bonanza. It was crowded, in the water and at the restaurant. It's also much more expensive and you can not bring your own food. We swam in the laguna from 10:30 tot 17:00 and it never felt crowded. This is a must do when visiting Bacalar!!

It is a convenient place if you want to rent a canoe to Los rapidos (200MXN for 1 hour of double canoe + 50MXN entrance fee per person). Make sure to agree on the starting time of the rental with the staff, as they tried to get extra money for being "late". Have in mind that you will start in los rapidos with the current helping you, and to paddle back it will be a bit harder, especially to avoid the crowd swimming in Los rapidos! You cannot really stop in Los rapidos to have a swim, because the area is full of protected rocks important for the ecosystem. (And it is impossible to swim against the flow of Los rapidos). Also the staff of the beach club at los rapidos isn't very friendly and didn't let us...
