Now THIS is Sonoran style grub! My cousin from AZ took us here years ago and I must say it’s the most incredible Mexican food ever. Not your typical burritos and tacos (that’s more a California thing). This is full on barbecue and meats, with the typical stuff as a backdrop. The ribs and rib tacos (with Sonoran style tortillas) is my favorite! So tender, juicy, crispy, and TASTY AF. Try it with a Mexican coke or a shot of bacanora (a type of mezcal from Sonora). You can’t go wrong either way.

This is my first review for a restaurant in Mexico and I was not disappointed at all by the experience. After a long day of outdoor adventure, my friend Jorge brought me here for dinner. Everything about the food, drink and service was most excellent. The ribeye steak I enjoyed was cooked perfectly and amazingly flavorful... and huge, more like half a cow! Lots of wonderful vegetables were included; sliced cucumber and radishes, and large grilled scallions and peppers, with cheese. Also included were beans and three sauces. The name of the restaurant translates to "the magician" and my experience here was truly magical. Highly recommended!

So delicious that I went twice. The restaurant offers a small side bar where you can choose what you want to add to your food. Prices are affordable, service is excellent, and the staff are friendly. It is clean and neat. The first time I tried wine from Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico. Fantastic!

I recently visited El Mago with high hopes for a delicious meal, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations. We ordered a variety of steaks including a T-bone, NY strip, and porterhouse. Regrettably, both the NY strip and porterhouse were marbled with an excessive amount of fat, and despite requesting a medium cook, all three steaks arrived rare. When we brought this to the attention of our waitress, the steaks were taken back to the kitchen but returned overcooked, dry, and lacking in flavor. Despite expressing our dissatisfaction, it seemed our concerns were not taken seriously. In addition to the disappointing steaks, we also ordered tacos and a burro mago. While these dishes were satisfactory, I couldn't help but notice the upward trend in prices with each visit. At $200 for our meals, the overall experience felt increasingly less justified by the quality of the food and service. Overall, my dining experience at El Mago left much to be desired. The inconsistent quality of the steaks, coupled with the lack of attention to customer feedback, makes it unlikely that I will be returning anytime soon.
