Food was medicore...ordered the special of the day "surf and turf" that was supposed to come with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Filet mignon was ordered medium rare, was definitely more rare than anything. Also ordered calamari, which was decent (definitely had better). The steamed clams were gritty and one wasn't even edible as it didn't open / or got cleaned so it was completely filled with sand when we finally popped it open. My son ordered fettucini alfredo with shrimp which he liked (not loved), shrimp tails still attached. Daughter ordered fettucini alfredo with chicken, there were only 4 small pieces of chicken in her dish. My niece ordered penne pasta with chicken and vodka sauce which was just okay. I ordered the strawberry arugula salad and added grilled chicken, again just okay. The service was okay, the waiter forgot a water and my chicken for the salad. My salad entree was brought out as an appetizer (weird) when it was the meal I ordered for myself so, it sat there for approx 30+ minutes before anyone else received their food. I told them they forgot my chicken and they brought it out (again before anyone got their food)...I sent it back as it was getting cold. Overall frustrating BUT, our waiter was pleasant which did help the overall experience. Not impressed...Won't come back though 💔 Additionally, the surf and turf and the two additional sides of asparagus we ordered for the table wasn't available. Why would you say the special comes with asparagus if you were out?! Something all waiters and waitresses should be aware of before saying what your special comes with.

Flan, a dessert invented by Portuguese nuns that were given land and needed to devise means for there own food, came up with this solution after obtaining many chickens, that led to desserts based on egg. At Mare Blu, however, the flan is sweet, but rubbery and perhaps even made from a package. When flan has many large holes, it means it was cooked in too much heat and the rubbery texture says, "you cooked me too long." Next, the chocolate mousse: an affront to dessert. Mousse comes from French moussillant, meaning "fluffy, frothy, light as air." Here, the texture could stand with cake. The taste is acceptable, but it is composed of angry molocules of rigid chocolate. In asperations of weight gain, they applied a layer of melted chocolate, surrounded by clouds of whipped cream. The tiramisu was passable. The napkins never arrived. In conclusion, although the patio promises a pleasant and calm seaside environment, one has to endure an incipient pier project jetting into the sea like a malevolent, rusted iron arm.

Mare Blu was surprising and wonderful! Outstanding! As someone who has been visiting Penasco for many years with many different goals, mare Blu is prob the best dining experience I have ever had in Peñasco. This restaurant is next to Wrecked at the Reef where as a very young man out of high school my friends and I would visit for the all you can drink specials and remote 4x4 dunes. Now the place is super classy and the best food in Peñasco. Mare Blu is prob the only 5 star food in Peñasco. My wife and I did date night here and was offered a Mare Blu branded wine made in Mexico. We ordered the filet mignon with shrimp , the crab ravioli and the beef carpaccio. All of it was exquisite! The staff was friendly and spoke Spanish and English and the views of the gulf are wonderful. They have Indoor and outdoor seating with great sunset views. Don’t waste your time with other seafood spots, this costs less or the same as el male on with better results.

My wife had pasta penne alla vodka, and I ordered one of the specials, grouper. Both were wonderful. There is enough pasta left for at least one more lunch for her! The grouper is among the best seafood I've ever had - perfectly tender, flaky, juicy, and stuffed with cheese and covered with a lemon sauce. The fish also would have come with shrimp stuffed in with the cheese, but I asked not to have it. Wine was very good, with ample servings for a glass. Great value for $10/glass. I was surprised by the prices - $12.95 for the pasta, and $20.00 for the grouper - We've both had similar entrees for at twice the cost, and we're from Ohio, which has one of the lowest costs-of-living in the country. Both came with nice salads with a light red vinegar-based flavor. The bread - small squares with lightly toasted grated cheese on top was an unexpected treat, and that was before I discovered the tomato butter. Ohmygosh! The tomato butter. That's worth a trip to the restaurant on its own merit! The service was excellent. Even before we entered the restaurant we were greeted with courtesy - like when family arrives - and two other staff subsequently welcomed us. The servers' timing, knowledge of the menu, and attention to detail were excellent. Restaurant was spotless, had a nice but intimate bar area, and the plainness of the decor elicited subtle elegance. All-in-all, both tax were $64.00 U.S. The gratuity was in proportion to the...

This was our first time dining at Mare Blu, and it did not disappoint. We had made a reservation, though it turned out not to be necessary since plenty of tables were available. We chose to sit outside and enjoyed a beautiful view throughout dinner.

The service was excellent from start to finish. While the bottle of wine we originally ordered wasn’t available, the sommelier personally came out, asked us what type of wine we preferred, and recommended a fantastic alternative that we really enjoyed.

The food was absolutely delicious. We started with the shrimp scampi and calamari appetizers—both were excellent. For dinner, all three of us ordered seafood pasta dishes, and each was served hot, fresh, and full of flavor. We finished with the crème brûlée for dessert, which was the perfect ending to a great meal. I did tell them it was my son‘s birthday although they did not do anything. Maybe they forgot. But We enjoyed our dessert anyway.

Overall, the combination of attentive service, delicious food, and a beautiful setting made for a wonderful evening. We will definitely be back the next time we’re...
