Sunset Bar & Grill is literally one of the best restaurants in San Carlos! Whenever my family and I come to visit, this is always our go-to dinner restaurant on our first night in town, as well as our last night (and honestly several times in between). It is located right on the beach (so wear sand/beach friendly shoes), with incredible views of the ocean (and sunset), and has an outstanding menu. The staff are all incredibly friendly and welcoming (and speak pretty good English), and the live music on the weekends is an extra special treat. The owners, Lisa and Frank, are some of the kindest and most hardworking people you will ever meet. They have poured their hearts and souls into this restaurant- from the unique and flavorful menu to handcrafting all of the decorations and features- and you can immediately feel that this place has a special vibe/environment. When it comes to the food, I highly recommend starting with the jalapeno poppers, sashimi, homemade potato chips with blue cheese, or any of the flat bread pizzas! When it comes to the main course, you really can't go wrong with any of the options! The fish is always fresh (usually caught that morning) and local, so be sure to ask what the fish of the day is! As for the drinks, the Sunset Sangria and mojito are some of the best in town! Be sure to call for reservations on the weekend, because this place becomes extremely popular and busy, and be prepared to pay a small fee to gain access to the beach/parking lot (only on the weekends, and collected by the guard in the little gatehouse at the entrance). Overall, this is a one-of-a-kind must-try restaurant and is truly a...
Read moreI was a little leery of going here because of some of the reviews but after going for breakfast Thursday at 9:15 in the morning I can say that people that say it's the nicest place to eat in all of San Carlos are correct! My breakfast casserole and my wife's chilaquiles were top-notch! The location which seems like it might be a little cold being right on the beach was absolutely perfect! We sat right on the cusp of being outside and it was glorious even though the day was a little cloudy. My eggs were cooked absolutely perfectly and I can tell there's a lot of attention going into the food at Sunset Grill. I will also include photos of the menu with all the drinks on it. But the biggest surprise was probably the service which is the best and I mean the absolute best I've ever had in the entire world! I've been to Europe and Australia and all of Central America, China and Japan, and all over the USA, so this is saying a lot! I'm not sure what it would be like if the place was really crowded but since it was sparse when we were there I can say you will be very well pleased if you go for breakfast. We heard that portions were small but this is not the case they were very ample. We will...
Read moreBeautiful place & the band playing is great... unfortunately the management is a joke since is one of the worst services i’ve ever gotten. Or maybe there’s not even a manager who guide & coordinate the service. i’ve been there twice, first time a year ago. (Horrible service) & embarrassing for me since I brought a pro in hospitality in the USA.. second time yesterday. I wanted to try again (since it’s supposed to be the “best place in SC”) what a waste of time! Since you walk in nobody welcomes you. So i chased a big guy who works there I asked him for a table he just said i don’t have & walked away. i waited around for like 15 minutes wondering if anyone was gonna take my name at least to put me on waiting list.. i asked another guy & he just said let me see & walked away as well. I understand if a place is busy but it’s unacceptable to just ignore clients. Since we had kids we stayed waiting/wondering. We asked 4 different people they all just ignored. We sat down in a living room & asked one of the waitress for french fries for the kids, 1 hr later we just left. No table, no food, no service. & of course they had tables! Long story short! Dont waste your time,...
